It sounds like you don't understand how spambots work.

We do ban them, permanently, the minute we see them. But spam attacks work by using multiple IP's (either through spoofing or through legitimate use of several internet providers). So when you block one, another comes along from a different address. Every forum everywhere suffers from the same problem.

If you have decently high traffic, like the 2K forums, you become a target.

You wouldn't believe just how many of those spambots we delete every day. I'm kind of proud of how quickly we catch and delete them (sometimes within seconds).

They need to add new registration features(like those crazy letters you have to type in) to prevent this. But like what was said above, it is amazing that they catch this stuff early. Which is quite amazing.

That was always my first thought when I see them all pop up is how quickly they get taken off it is a very clean forum and very well maintained. If you see them the best thing to do is not reply to the post and report it.

Quoted for truth. Thank you. The "Report Post" button is our biggest ally. And we appreciate it very much when forum members use it (responsibly).

What I really want to know is why they even do this. Does anyone come to the 2k forum and go "Oh wow I just happen to need Viagra, this is so convenient.." seems like a waste of the spammers time as well as annoying us. If they want to market the stuff they sell I am sure there are better ways.
