Console Fight!

I really couldn't think of a creative title for this that made sense, so I chose one that still had the creative part, even if it doesn't make sense.

But on to the topic, what company do you think would be a good company to make the next big console? Would you want a new one to rise up like Nintendo. Starting off in the gaming industry and then later nearly owning it? Would it be more like Sony who already worked in the entertainment department with TV screens and stereos? Or would it be another MicroSoft, where they were always the giants of software, who decided to take advantage of the growing gaming market.

The only company I see rising into the gaming industry would be Apple. But probably their entire system would revolve around the iPod.

Who do you think would make a good console? Who do you think already is planning one?

And please, don't comment about not wanting a new console to contribute to the fanboy wars, this is just for fun.

Apple already tried with their Pippin, which failed, big time.

I would guess on Nokia. Sure, the original N-GAGE failed miserably, but they seem to be putting in a lot of effort of fixing the problems with their upcoming "next-gen" N-GAGE platform which will be available on a wide range of their phones. So even when it's launched sometime in the 4th quarter later this year, they will have a relatively large crowd of people with compatible phones that only need to download some N-GAGE program, and they are ready to go. And the original N-GAGE was a bit of success in India for some reason. If they can continue to build up a strong community there, then they got a pretty huge group of followers.

The phones of today are more powerful than the PS1, and in another 2 years we probably see plenty of phones that have more power than the PS2.
