I mean if the graphics were down graded, and there was bad textures, and bad frame-rates why would a highly known magazine give it 5/5 stars and say that the graphics are improved? Just gives you more evidence that were possibley playing an old build...//
You do that!....Hey Liz do you know when you can get a responce from 2K about this?
same thing i said 2k is it old? and will u fix the big daddy plz he looks horrible on ps3
Liz is trying to get a responce from 2K. It's not like 2K members roam the 2K message boards, I mean they do have lives here....//But on the other hand, don't you think that by now they would have told us, if the demo version really was a different, older build than the retail disc will ship with?
http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/41...inds-of-Broken
Now im not goin to complain any more i guess they are working hard to fix everythin after i saw this . Even 2k admited that it looked bad. Well i will be waiting for bioshock oct.21 cant wait.
I'm starting to feel bad that people in general, and myself, are being very critical and harsh on the PS3 demo, but there are really high expectations for this. PS3 owners are the most hardcore after all, and are looking for a highly polished final product. It's Bioshock after all.
On this Big Daddy point though, if you look at the Big Daddy when you're dazed on the floor after the bolt injection, ALL of his textures are low, PSX quality (I challenge anyone to look). Look at the bolts, chest and legs. The blur attempts to cover most of this up. It isn't like the dead one propped up under a waterfall, it's the first time you come face to face with a live one.
So, I'm glad to hear not all of them look like this, only some of them...
Regardless, this game is fun and I know it's not an easy port, just hoping for the best on this one.
And please fix the texture pop-in on the whale. It's even in the 1up comparison video.![]()
The blur filter needs to go too. It gives me a headache & I keep thinking my tv is out of focus or something. Wasn't it announced long ago that the PS3 version would have improved and "sharper" graphics? How does a blur filter accomplish that?!?!
Either a delay or a patch would suffice perfectly fine with me, and I can say that I'm happy they are actually listening, which is TONS more than I can say about Monolith regarding the PS3 port of F.E.A.R..
About that review in Playstation Magazine.
Overall they like it however the review states this.
"If you're a lucky multi-format owner who favours visuals over some extra puzzle levels, you're probably better off with 360's original. Otherwise, you needn't panic: Rapture shines on every format and plays identically."
You can read the other samll clips from the review here.
http://www.computerandvideogames.com....php?id=197709
Although they say a lot of great things about the PS3 version, the concern is the visuals so I thought that part of the review is the most crucial.
They also have 12 screenshots however they may be recycled from earlier screenshot releases.

And only one big daddy destroy your expectations? lol
yesterday i've played the PC Demo at 1280x720 with max settings and No AA (as the PS3/360 version i've played in DX9) and i haven't found much difference except for the bloom effect of the fire (in the PS3 version is much stronger) and the only texture different is the first big daddy, the rest is exactly the same!!!!! Just change your TV setting for "hide" the blur and judge yourself.
Oh off course the framerate need to be fixed, it's strange that we have framerate issue only when we walk but not when we fight O_O

but there was no need 2k elizabeth message to confirm, confirm we had when you created this topic, and then expect the same quality (of the demo) in the retail version
edit : the boys mod 2k elizabeth says "but not all Big Daddies look like this" but this means that all the other big daddy are affixed? or just want to say that most of them are good? because this statement can also make it clear that it is not the only case that big daddy of the demo, mod 2k elizabeth can be more clear?

I am life in germany and i want to play the demo!but i don´t find the demo in german ps3-network!so i must asked give it a german bioshock demo?
As much as the demo dissapointed me as others, I'm extremely proud to buy the product from 2k (I own it on 360 and will be picking it up for PS3 day one). The way they're handling this is great, they're accepting responsibility, they know there is an issue and they're trying to resolve it. It is being handled extremely well and I'm glad to know there is a company out there that listens to it's fans.
I can think of a lot of other companies that would brush this aside *cough*EA.
I mean hell even Metallica weren't man enough to accept that their new album has clipping issues. It takes a lot for a company that's invested millions into a product to stand up and say "hey we know there's an issue, we're working on it". I greatly respect 2k for that.
If you have a personal relationship with the employees of the office she should of got a quick response already. I highly doubt no one is able to contact the team via email, text msg, hell even the old trusty phone hardline or cell. Is this the only company that don't use cell phones or has a phone system infrastructure.

2KLiz:I have a question John Doe, was the demo compiled from a old build of the game?
John D. I don't know, Jane Doe compiled the code
2KLiz: Oh, ok. Thanks I'll ask her.

Jane Doe: Hello this is Jane.
2KLiz: Hey Jane, this is Liz, I have a question for you. The recently demo released for Bioshock, was it a old build of the game or not?
Jane D: No it was a the final build, and now we are working on some minor tweaks.
2KLiz: thanks, bye
Jane D: no problem, bye.
Just like the Civ. Rev. fiasco they can 't even answer the simplest of questions.
You DO realize that to answer some of these questions, is a much more complicated issue than asking your everyday pal something and get a quick answer.
It is a large organization and something simple you may see in your TV may be a result of something more complex. There are too many people involved.
Oh and I am buying the full game. I loved it even though I played it on my PC. It still looks awesome, and ironically I did not notice much of the bluriness on my TV, and one pixelated big daddy isnt enough to ruin the beauty of the rest of the game.
It still looks brilliant and personally I put the demo higher than Call of Duty 4 visually.

any official clarification about the framerate jitters?
thanks
I'm happy to see that there is solution for the Big Daddy problem, but what about the framerate?
Guys - Elizabeth has said she is working on a reply, so don't see how constantly asking the same question is helping keep this constructive.
Let's just wait for 2K to respond - it's not like you're adding anything to the debate at this point
This thread is such as bad attempt at ending the flow of criticism, especially locking down other threads.
Based off what I’ve read, it surprises me that no one has suggested what I think to be an obvious compromise to this (presumed) problem. Just rent the game instead of buying it. I suggest using GameFly. If you like it, you can keep it (at a discounted price). If the graphics are too bad for your taste, then just send it back. For $18/month, I think that’s pretty reasonable.
P. S. I don’t work for GameFly, but I’m pretty happy with them (except for some long shipping times).
George Bush said there was weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Did you belive him?
Do you belive everything your read or hear.
You don't see how constantly asking the same question is helping. I do, for the same reason you or anyone else has to reply stating that they are not being constructive to the topic. Heed your own words and wait for a response, it's not like you're adding anything to the debate at this point.![]()
Well Ive been watching this whole thing for a while now because i was concerned since this is a game Ive been hyped about since the news its coming to the PS3...
BUT now Im getting let down here by 2KGames,they mention at E3 this was more than a port a "Genetically Enhance Version" and they will take "special" care making sure Bioshock on the PS3 will be amazing....
After playing the demo it was really good and I only notice the over done Blur Filter Effect....now I see the HORRIBLE Big Daddy texture wow its so ugly...and very noticeable.
And to make matters worse...I did some research and see its in the FINAL BUILD as well...just look at the Big Daddy in this pic his yellow light is pixels are so BIG!
http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/ar...6024557735.jpg
More proof of this problem...look at the IGN video closely...
http://ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/79310..._090908_3.html
I am truly let down by 2kGames,its sad to see that the PS3 version has slightly better water and lighting effects could have been the better version of the multiplatforms but held back with the bad Big Daddy texture and over done blur filter....
Who ever is testing for 2kGames game quality, should be fired sorry to say....and should hire some of the gamers here cause I cant believe these problems got pass them!
less evil that you did go out the demo of this disaster for conversion, I sure like many others stay away like the plague
What it hurts me more is that when they released the game for PC and XBOX360 there was a patch...ok...then when it comes to PS3 there are still problems and possibly there will be a patch AGAIN to fix the problems overlooked...
I'm starting to hate this new generation of consoles because it allows to the game developers to fix their mistakes after the game is released!
Back then you would buy a game and things like this never happened, oh well.
The stupid thing is that I will buy the game anyway...but it's just wrong on their part.
Not all big daddies look like this? So that means the demo was from a recent (if not final) build... disappointing. What's with the horrible blur and the framerate? Are they gonna fix it?
Yeah I notice that too...I am confused by this.Did 2KGames lie to us about this being more than a port for the PS3? Because what I am seeing here is a hack job.
Its embrassing too see these type of texture on the PS3....I HOPE the devs fix these problems before the release OR some how these videos and pics Ive seen looking at them again is a early build.
I "was" more excited for this game than anything else this year...was....
When the developers said this is the "genetically enhanced version," they were probably referring to the extra content such as Survivor Mode and the Challenge Rooms. Still, they also said it would look the same and, well, not quite.
I resized the image from the previous page to avoid stretching the page:

Here we have a direct-feed screenshot from one of the sites that'll be reviewing the game. This image runs counter to what Liz told us:
She said that the textures wouldn't be a problem with the rest of the Big Daddies. Now I'm not saying she's lying, she probably just overlooked this one as well, but it's doing nothing for my nerves. The porthole and shoulder pads and canvas sleeve of the Big Daddy in the pic above all look abysmal, something we haven't seen since the PS1/N64. This is 2008, not 1998. What's going on?Originally Posted by 2K Elizabeth

I've notice several of the issues pointed out by Nietieo as well, specifically the white bar and visual noise at lower and right screen edge, but also the dissapointing graphics. I am looking forward to buying Bioshock for my PS3, but these problems have me looking at the pc version again. I hope they can be resolved before or at least shortly after release. Also I think Nietieo's onto something with the ability to change up the control scheme, seems like it's a no brainer. If at all possible I'd like to see all of the issues brought up by Nietieo addressed.
I was thinking the same thing the Little Sister is crying at the textures....but I agree with you on the textures on Big Daddy I havent seen that since the PS1/N64 days.
Now Im not knocking Bioshock for the PS3 but Im let down BIG TIME if this is the final build,I wanted this game more than Little Big Planet and other big title PS3 games coming out!
I hope this isnt going to turn out to be "well we see the problem and we cannot fix it for now a patch will be made" BS...patches are great but FIRST impressions are better...
Anyway everthing else in Bioshock is excellent, sound, water effects, controls, lighting effects look and feel better...over other versions, its just that damn blur and big daddy lol
2Kelizabeth, i really think that this game should be delayed to have more polishing, these problems are because of time and are little, but players do notice these problems and can make them change their minds.
Please, release it in 2010, but make it a great port, not this average one.
I'm new to this forum. I got a PS3 about a year and a half ago and was super upset when I heard Bioshock was going to be available only for PC and 360.
So I was stoked when 2K decided to make a PS3 version after the exclusivity deal expired.
I've never seen or played the PC or 360 versions, so when I downloaded the PS3 demo, I had a blast.
I guess in this case, what I don't know can't hurt me regarding the graphics. I just had a blast with the demo and am grateful I can play the game at long last.
I guess that makes me wierd? I must have looked at all the textures I could but I didn't see anything that looked lousy. I looked at the wet stones of the lighthouse, and if there was a blur filter in use I didn't see it. The rocks were shiny, wet, glistening and sharp.
As long as the port isn't a total abortion like the "Orange Box," then I'm good with picking this up for PS3. Even better is that 2k seems genuinely interested in trying to patch or fix these issues, which is more than I can say for Valve's (and that porker Gabe Newell's) total laziness and bias towards the PS3.

the game went gold already!
i encourage you guys to read the reviews, look at the movies of in-game footage, and read some editor's opinions -- or, of course, play the demo yourself! it is the best way to really judge the game.
i'm working on some stuff for my full update, but it's time consuming, so please be patient. in the meantime, here's a comparison video from 1UP: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3169860
I can see the improvements in that comparison video from 1up and other sites, and read the reviews well only one review which was like a 9/10....
BUT there is a problem that cant be sugarcoated and many gamers see this...besides the 2KGames forums other forums are confused or upset by this everyone knows now. They are LOTS of people looking at this forums for answers but not posted yet....
It went from OMG Bioshock looks amazing on the PS3...too...OMG look at the over done blur filter effect OMG look at Big Daddy texture mess...
I know the 2KGames Dev team dont live on the forums but Im pretty sure they hear whats going on now...its all over the net,and I think people are confused and mad at this because BioShock is a HIGH quality game...and for this quality for PS3 gamers...Is very bad.
