Talking The water looks so good it might be real.

Hey, I kind of like this new forum. So anyway, I was looking at some videos at G4 about BioShock and a lot of must of have seen this at E3 (on the TV) but when I saw the video about the water for a few seconds I couldn't really see the difference in my mind between real water and the water in BioShock and I just wanted to know if you guys felt the same way that I felt (which was amazed)!!!

They definitely did a good job with it. Water effects have come a long way.

I still remember my jaw dropping the first time I played Morrowind and walked up to the top deck of the boat.

It dropped again while watching one of the BioShock videos of a player fighting a Big Daddy and luring him into a flooded bathroom.

Yeah, the water is good. They hired a guy tpo do it, in case you didn't know. For a game being underwater, I'd say it's necessary.

When Raveness posed as Ken Levine on a chat room, she/he said that the water was so real you could lick the condensation off of your screen.

It is some pretty fancy looking water.

I wonder if theres a Plasmid that can make you breath underwater.

And on second note, could you kill all the little sisters in the game to end most of the conflict since they are the ones that gets all the ADAM in the game?

I doubt it. I believe I heard somewhere that you won't need to swin, only in the beginning.

In one of the Gamespot stage demo's from last year, they we're talking to one of the senior Devs (can't remember his name) and he said once they knew for sure that their game was going to be set entirely underwater, they gave 3 people the job to work fulltime on the water effects alone!

I had to laugh at his comment that these guy's really love water because they've had to basically live and breath it (pun not intended) since the start of development.

I don't know who these 3 people are, but if you're reading this, thankyou and congratulations on making the best looking water I've ever seen in a video game. The fact that I can tell this from screenshots and video alone, means we are truly going to be blown away once we get the game in our grubby little hands

Reading this makes me so happy about the game that I am going to build my own underwater city (off the coast of Cuba, don't tell anyone or I will do something) but, better!!!

I think people are getting a little too excited about the water. When you get the game, you should stare at the BD's model right before it kills you.

I think I remember they said they have one programmer and one artist working on just water.

And in that old demo where he said those guys love water it wasn't a Gamespot stage demo. I think it was like an E3 thing made available to the public or something.

Thats not exactly what I said, but you've enhanced it and I like the 'condensation' part, though that can't be good for the monitor

Trust me, the computer is going to be sweating for a whole other reason
