Blue Screen
Hello there,
I just have had my first blue screen playing Civilization Colonization. The behavior was very weird as for the first time the game was incredibly slow when interacting with the Indians & the King (the pop-up window when validating a choice it took like 30 sec to move to the next step). After 3 occurence like this, the last pop-up just killed my computer with a nice BSOD and needed 2 reboots to get my BIOS recognizing the main HD.
My config :
Civilization Colonization French Edition
Windows XP SP3 latest patch level
4 Gb RAM (msconfig setted up to accept up to 3Gb)
Video : ATI Radeon X1950XTX (Catalyst version 08.7 driver version 8.512-080703a-066900C-ATI) on a Samsung SyncMaster 204B
CPU : Core2Duo 6600 @ 2.40GHz
Game resolution : 1600x1200
The only thing I have done since the intallation of the game is a defrag of my HDs (Master + Slave)
DirectX version : August 2008 (4.09.0000.0904)
Is there anything I can do or anybody I should contact for this matter ?
Thanks in advance,
Fandaor

Wow - I haven't had the game crash yet - check your drivers and stuff.
I've left my Colonization running for hours in the background, probably over 12 hours. No problems at all.

More Blue Screen...
Hi,
Same problem, after a few hours of gameplay I got the dreaded blue screen etc. Thought initially it might be a problem with hardware but for:
a) The PC hasn't crashed in months (it's been a slimcenter server.)
b) I now have a save game that reliably re-creates the blue screen each and every time. (It's about two turns from the autosave.)
Started afresh, only to encounter the same problem again at at a diferent point.
For what it's worth.
XP Service pack 3
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 4600+ 2.41GHz
3.25 GB Ram (From 4) - pesky xp.
Geforce 8800GTX (768Mb)
Am gutted, because I have been looking forward to this game since 1994! haha.
Only link I can see to the above poster is the 4 gbs of ram that XP isn't seeing propery.. Please PLEASE don't make me re-install Vista.
Any help greatly appreciated, even if it means levering out a memory chip.
Cheers

I have a much more interesting crash. If I leave the game for long enough for the screensaver to turn on the game crashes to desktop. Also after the crash the resolution of my monitor goes down to minumun and I cannot change it in anyway, even after a restart of the computer.
I can only reinstall the graphic drivers (funny thing, after this reinstall my windown does not ask to restart) to fix the problem.
This also happened to me once after I quited the game directly to desktop and tried to enter it again. After that I would first exit to the game's menu and then to desktop.

Aha...
Aha...
I have just played a full game through without crashing.. The difference? - The previous times I had been occasionally alt+tabbing to the desktop to check mail, fiddle about etc.
This time I resisted, and always used save, quit etc. And so far not a hint of a problem...
I guess it just wants my full attention, and who am I to argue?

So the game has a problem with alt+tabing into desktop.
I see this as patchworthy
