    Diplomacy window

At the beginning I didn't care too much, but now it's getting annoying. Is there any reason why when I press R1 (PS3), the diplomacy window doesn't show ALL levels of the other players? I gave a tech to the AI because I thought it was low and the next turn it was above me, then winning the game. The exact same happens in the MP as well.

It happens when you are at war most of the times, however you only have to see "who is winning", for the technologies that's not so hard

Yes, I'm not sure what determines which 2nd-to-5th place victory progress stats are shown for the AI, but it's annoying when a civ is only one tech behind me and the Diplomacy window isn't showing his Tech status. Having to go into the Who's Winning? screen seems like an unnecessary step.

yeah. For some reason I seldom use the Who's winning screen. Well, my fault, I know. It's just that somehow it takes too long and in MP any second can become precious at advanced times.

Also, since we are on Diplomacy topic, is there any way to check the tech status of a civ when they ask for a tech exchange? Or at least to have the offer again after canceling it. Or even better to ask for an tech exchange instead of selling a tech? I don't seem to be able to make it working, if the option is present.

You can access the Civilopedia when an AI requests a tech trade, but I haven't found a way to access the number of techs he has during the trade. All I have at my disposal is my memory of the Who's Winning? screen. And once you leave the trade screen, there's no getting it back. Based on what I've seen, only the AI can initiate trades; you can buy and sell techs, but you can never initiate a trade.

when you press the R1 from the main screen -- practically any time you want to in the game -- it shows you all the players and/or AIs that you have met up to that moment in the game. They are all list side by side with the category listed in the box of the first and second place players - designated by the color of the category... WHITE is SECOND Place ---- Gold Is first place.

If you click X, you go into the diplomacy for that character ... if you do it for your own character, if brings up the same menu as the Select button does.

Admittedly, the opponent info is not as detailed as your own city reports, but it seems more like cheating to want to know all that about your opponent, IMHO

Wait, wait, wait. Now it makes sense. So, it shows only the first and second places! Bloody AI (sorry). I gave the tech to a civ that showed nothing and passed me in tech in a couple of rounds? Ok, no more alphabet to AI. It probably rushes the library and then I am done.

Well, thanks for the answer. Maybe I had to read the manual, ah?

I make it a general rule to be very selective of giving up anything to the AI that doesn't benefit me .... Democracy I share -- it gives me some extra peace years -- but usually, I try to avoid giving up anything else unless it benefits me. For instance, a culture that is leading me in tech offers to trade something insignificant for like nukes -- I don't mind taking nukes from them.

If your talking about Multiplayer only then your right it balances out the game.

But for single player it's cheating, for the sheer fact the AI will know how many units I have in any given city, they how much money I have, they know what techs I have learned, and what any given city is building. So in the sence the AI is cheating for knowing everything I know, and do. But I have no way of knowing what the aother civ's is doing, or how much money they got.

Example: AI will offer to sell a tech to me for 450 gold of my 562 gold resever. But when I sell a tech to them they offer to buy it for 10 gold, but I have no idea how much money they got to begin with.

And If I want to know some information about how many units, or what is being built. I have to ask a Civ at peace, to get 1 tid-bit of information. If I wish to know more, I have to do that every turn, and hope they don't realy the same information again.

2K/Firaxis really needs to fix that, where I know just as much as they do.

No, that's not right. I did some tests and I believe that they ask/share an amount that is a fraction, maybe 25% of what one has (AI or player, it doesn't matter). I tried indeed to sell techs to a civ that was ahead in gold and it was giving me much more money than another for the same tech. That would be indeed a good way to know roughly how much gold a civ has and, sure, which techs we have a civ is missing.

About the same should apply to spies when we make them stealing gold. Too bad I never use these strategies. Maybe I would win the games in a much easier and faster way.

Maybe randomly, I was playing against the India, and he had religion, he wanted 400 gold for it but said too bad because all I had was 298 gold. Could it be because it was new. No I only needed 2 turns to research that tech, so of course I said no way, even if I had the money.

If another civ. is tied or winning the economy race, then I should see how much money he/she has. And I could make threats about paying me 'x' amount of gold for 'x' turns of peace.

i think i've already done it, the problem is that you don't choose which techs will be in the trade... And it only happens at the end, when an other civ launched the spacecraft. At this moment, the other civs offers peace, and sometimes there's a possibility to initiate a trade, and so rarely to threats him (a tech against x round of peace).

About this last point, i really like to know what are the conditions to be able to threat an other civ like they do all the game long (in Single Player)?
