    Why do people give up?

The few times that I have been lucky enough to play online, people have quit on me. Most the time I guess they are going to lose, but last night I thouhgt I was the one in trouble and the other player just quit. It can take 30 minutes or more to get a game going and then it is over when somone quits because of a minor set back. I welcome the challenge that comes from set backs. Digg in people and don't give up. You will learn more that way.

It has happened so many times that I have thought myself losing, then all of a sudden the tables are turned and I'll pull out a win. Don't quit people. If you are going to lose in a couple of turns, then be polite and stay the couple of turns. If you are losing, but it will take much longer to lose, fight fight fight.

The worst people are those that leave when it informs them that you are X turns from AC/World Bank/UN. That's just plain rude.

That's is assuming that they aren't "disconnected from XBOX Live". Happened to me yesterday.

My Ranked rating suck because of getting dropped.
50% probably because of my wireless connection (still didn't hardwire yet, but am working on it).

I am not so sure it is always people giving up.

On a number of occasions my system has frozen and I have had to quite (however devs are working on fixing this - and it is getting better), however after quitting I have spoken to other players in the game who have been able to carry on.

I do not think it is always people intentionally quitting......

    Lots of them quit.

Lots of people quit, because most of the time it happens when you take one of their cities or they lose a battle. Last night I played three head to head games. Two of the people quit when I took their second city and I had nothing to take their capitol or even hold the city I took. In the third game my army was deystroyed by the AI romans. I was in a world of hurt. My human opponent was spain and had just gotten atlantis springing him forward in the tech race. I had little defending my two cities. I could have been taken out by a warrior army. I did not quit. Took me longer but won the game by beating him to tanks.

Probably a lot of people are too used to playing the SP game where they'd reload from a save if something went wrong

I keep giving up. Ahead in everything, either my stupid modem gets stuck or I get signed off the PSN. just when it's time to build some serious armies to better defend the cities and attack some small ones to keep developing money, techs and culture. Like just now. That is something I can't really stand.

But it's true, some people give up for real. But if they haven't any chance I think that's correct for them to leave. I gave up near the end as well once but I sent a message. I couldn't stay there playing for another hour or more just to help the other guy accumulating points (that probably won't show since our PS3 leaderboards are defective).
