    Mafia 3....

I am just curious as to whether you guys can see 2k Czech making another mafia game after the beloved Mafia 2?

I am curious as to whether Mafia can be considered a franchise for this company...

As I belive this is the only major title this company makes...i'm not sure so please don't hammer me for saying that.

If there will indeed be a Mafia 3(which i would love) we could begin collecting ideas for that game in this thread...

also this is my first, 1st, #1 thread so please be nice...

I would think it would be a good franchise however it really depends how Mafia II sells. Since the goal of most companies is to make a profit.

I personally seriously doubt we will see another Mafia game anytime soon after Mafia 2.

Don`t forget Mafia took what, 4-5 years to make and this will be like 5-6 years.

I think the developers would want to do something else after the Mafia 2 release.
I would not mind a Hidden and Dangerous 3 , I would prefer that over Mafia 3 as well.

I agree if Mafia two does really good with its franchise, then we should expect Mafia 3 in about another five years. It could take even longer, nobody knows and nobody will know at least until March. I do hope that this franchise does continue!

    i actually dont think so...

    lets look at it logically:

Mafia 1 came out in 2002, since then they must have been working on a new Mafia title, Mafia 2...

    2009 - 2002 = 7 years.

    but...

7 years to create the most next-gen engine on the PS3 and Xbox360.

-An engine where NPC's actually have lives, get on buses, go to work e.t.c
    -destructable environments, except buildings...
    -true vehicular damage and destruction.
    -great graphics
    -3rd person cover mechanics
-customisation of vehicles, re-spray..liscense plate e.t.c
    -eating in restuarants...
-learning new fighting styles in the Gym...
-being able to interacte withe the environment extensively
    -improvisational weapons, such as bottles...

no doubt it would have taken 7 years to create ALL those next-gen gameplay elements listed above...but once Mafia 2 is released..and the next set of Consoles appear...they could easily port this great engine over to the new consoles, then 2k Czech would not have to develop the engine all over again...meaning Mafia 3 will be out sooner than you think...

Fighting styles, re spray, it sounds like Mafia have some "Gta-DNA and True Crime DNA"

Mafia II is not the only game in development, as far as we know, there is (very probably) some first person shooter set to Russia in development :-) Further we know it's called Moscow Rhapsody, we know how it looked back in 2006 (leaked footage, not an official trailer! Thats why the AI is broken, that's why the animations are terrible and that's why the game looks nothing but excellent).

As this it not everything we know, I can't forget to mention that there is some quite old logo of the game, official press release written by the Moscow Rhapsody's original publisher D3P (repsonsible for publishing Puzzle Quest or Dark Sector, a third person shooter by Digital Extremes, the studio wich is right now cooperating on Bioshock PS3 with 2K Boston/ 2K Australia) and finally D3P originally targeted the game as "million seler", which might be a sign of the game quality.

As mentioned, it is higly possible that Moscow Rhapsody is actually in production under 2K Games wings, as the Moscow Rhapsody was intelectuall property of Illusion Softworks and if I am not wrong, it means it is now Intelectual property of 2K Games :-). The guys from gamesource.cz mentioned some ongoing negotiations between 2K and D3P, wich only adds some trust to all specualtions. It is reasonable, noone want's to throw out a game, that is far in it's development.

Since we talk about other 2K\Illusion titles, what happened to "Enemy in sight" anyone read 100% that it was cancelled ?

    It looked promising.

I've personally not seen a 100% cancellation confirmation anywhere.
