Question A question I have in mind. (Spoilers)

I beat Bioshock already. The first time I beat it, I harvested all little sisters. I got the ending which made no sense at all. The splicers come out and kill everyone. Question: Where the hell is jack at that point? What is that nuclear missile?
So, I beat bioshock a second time, but this time, i rescued all the little sisters just to see if anything added that could make sense to the bad ending. But no. Another question: Didn't jack use the big daddy vocal cord thingy machine to become a big daddy? Wouldn't people in the surface look wierd at someone with a whale-like voice?

I hope you guys can answer!

With the harvest ending when all the splicers come up and kill everyone I believe Jack has become corrupt with power (like Fontaine) and plans to create havoc, with the help of some splicer friends. One thing however, that I dont get is the missile. Hope this helps

I always saw the nuclear missile as very symbolic. I believe Tenenbaum's last words in the bad ending are along the lines of "you stole your father's deepest secrets and turned them against the world"....or something like that. I haven't gotten that ending in a while.

Anyways! It seems as though Jack used some of the technology he found in Rapture, (like the one used in the bomb to override Ryan's maglocks to his office) to build a nuclear bomb. He takes it to the world above with the splicers when he becomes mad with ADAM from the harvested Little Sisters. No doubt, he intends to wreak havoc on our world using his newfound powers (both the plasmids and the bomb). It basically is a another true slap in the face for Andrew Ryan. After building his "perfect" society, he then saw all his morals and values turned against him by his enemies - Fontaine&Atlas. In a last resort to save his city, he in turn also forfeited everything he once believed in...and all the principles his city was founded on. As if the man was not crushed enough by living with the remorse that he has turned into the one thing he has always hated - he sees Jack. The fact that his only flesh and blood was reduced to nothing more than a mindless puppet (by Fonatlas..."Would You Kindly?") was the ultimate insult the world could give to this already broken man. He then of course, decides to leave the world on his own terms by having Jack kill him. Andrew Ryan died alone, and as the one thing he always hated.

However! I believe it does not stop there. With the inclusion of the bad ending, we see that not only does Jack become a mindless hell-bent splicer, but he took the technology from the city his father created and used it to achieve a goal that his father always hated. Violence, and the war-ridden nature of the world and the government. So everything that Andrew Ryan worked for in Rapture was essentially in vein. In fact, he provided the technology for the advancement of a cause he hated (like I said war, world conquering, etc etc). - So even in death it would appear he betrayed his morals once again - of course unbeknownst to the late Andrew Ryan, but apparently Tenenbaum sees this as she says that line about "your father's secrets..."

But the fact that it is a nuclear bomb is really the most interesting to me. Because the game had stated (most likely in an audio diary, I forget exactly where...it's currently 3:30am, ha!) that Andrew Ryan truly saw the destructive power of the United States government when they bombed Japan during World War II. That was "the straw the broke the camel's back" sorta speak for Andrew Ryan, and what fueled him to build Rapture. So it really does come full cycle with the missile there. Seeing Rapture begin with the killing of innocents by warfare and it ending with Jack leaving Rapture - after harnessing (looting) it of it's secrets, to turn everything it stood against on it - with the bomb, and the splicers to create more warfare and take away innocent lives.

Sorry if that was really long/confusing, but it was pretty much the simplest and shortest way I could break it down. I'd love to hear what other people thought. I think the endings of this game are underrated, I hear a lot of people say they thought they were lackluster. Granted, I agree - they weren't as strong as some of the other parts of the game, but they really do make you think. At first, I didn't think much of it, but after a while you start to see the connections...I think it made for a nice circular ending.

Well, he was in the hospital because he was old already. I think it was his death bed already.

You can probably quite easily find both of the two bad ending films on Youtube, as I did now and posted here.

First you see the little sisters butcher Fontaine, just as in the good ending, then the true film starts. The little sister, who looks frightened, comes to you (Jack) with the key to the Rapture computer system (= controll over the city).

Tennenbaum: They offered you everything, yes. And in return you gave to them what I have come to expect of you. Brutallity.

(Jack grabs the little sisters hand and shakes her, the screen goes dark and changes, you see a submarine salvaging items in the water, either parts from a partially destroyed Rapture below or the crashed airplane. The batyspeheres with Splicers then appear and kill of the ship's crew, and finds the nuclear weapon.)

Tennenbaum: And Rapture trembled, but in the end even Rapture was not enough for you. Your father was terrified that the world would try to steal the secrets of his city - but not you. For now you have stolen the terrible secret of the world.

I interpret it so that Jack takes complete controll of the Splicers, becoming one of them in the process, and after that moves on to the rest of the world, with the help of Rapture's plasimids and the stolen nuclear weapon(s).

She undid a small amount of Fontaine's mental conditioning (but obviously not all), but Jack's voice for the Big Daddy was altered AFTER this, in Point Prometheus.

Aye, that machine you used to change your voice, as someone pointed out, had "Permanent" written all over it. :-)
But with Tennenbaum and ADAM you never know, if they wanted to they would probably not have especially huge problems. On the other hand Jack is probably sick of ADAM after they've left Rapture, if you get the good ending at least.
