Is the Knights Templar any good? It seems like it always takes too long to transport the unit back to my civ. By the time it gets there it is no longer awsome in any way. Anyone agree?

If you like the Knights, or Cannons. Then it could be good. But I dont really care for it. But I try to get it before any other civ. aswell.
It made a difference in my game last night...
or discover it after you've invented knights (feudalism i think). It will then give you a tank because you already have the Knight Tech.
If you find it, try sitting on it until you get knights and cannons. It will give you a veteran tank and that will make your enemies tremble.
Its probably the worst of the artifacts, but I wouldn't say its tragic. Just gotta get it at a good time. I played a game today where the knights templar was like 2 sea squares away from my capital city and a barbarian hut I got gave me a galley. Needless to say, I won that game as I got a knight unit around 3000bc (cant remember the exact date, but it was around there, give or take 1 or 2 hundred years)... That single knight unit rolled over all the other civs... by the time i made it to the last one he had 5 of the possible upgrades, rofl.
So it can be good, if your timing is good... otherwise its mediocre at best.
The main issue with the nights templar is that you only get one of the units, not an army. Even a vet tank on its own can't get past vet archers in a capital, and will have evens with the rest.
Single units are virtually useless. The best use I could see is getting an early vet knight army with England without the need to build barracks, but then you have to ask yourself, will one army be enough?
