Civ Rev Strategy Forum Etiquette.

This is just some general advice on how we should be posting in this forum. I have noticed alot of replies to threads that are filled with pompus and sometimes incoherant babble.

This forum is to discuss and better strategies

Contribute to a post in a meaningful way. Realize when you enter a thread about X strategy, people want to discuss THAT strategy. If you think some other strategy (arab rushers this is you) talk about those strategies in another thread.

Help the OP Dont sit around talking about how you would pick holes in X strategy with your super fantastic Y strategy. Suggest ways people could improve upon their own.

Realize this is a GAME people play for fun By that I mean as differing as people are, so too are the ways in which they have FUN playing the game.

Stay on topic Stop hijaking threads. There are single player and multiplayer strategies, but they probably arent in the same thread. No one cares about one particular game where some particular circumstances allowed your strategy to succeed. tell your war stories in your own thread.

Speaking as one with not many posts as well (as I am sure you have already noticed), I must say that I have been reading these forums for quite some time and some of the most frequent posters are those with the least to say. I'm quite sure that if I decided that there was one civ that was superlative to all others and simply hopped from board to board alternatively espousing/ defending this theory, my post count would be significantly higher. I'm not entirely sure what use you calling him out on this fact is besides pointing out that he isn't a spammer of sorts.

my point was that he was extremely new to the site and the ettiquette he has seen so far cant be too bad.

I am new to the board but, I have read the first 10 pages of threads and used the search function extensivly.

For the most part people are pretty good. However there are about 5 regulars who could benefit from some of this advice....

this is a really good guideline. if you guys think that i should write something more official and sticky it, i'd be glad to do so.

you can make a sticky, although i dont think that anyone would listen to it.

I think a sticky would be useful if the mod power is there to enforce it

There are plenty of forums on the internet where poeple are polite and respectful - its not a coincidence that these are well moderated

Once someone gets warned about being banned they usually remember their manners pretty quickly

Its a matter of whether the resources and will to enforce the rules are in place or not
