    This weeks game of the week.

    Watch out for the Aztecs. I lost four 4(me) vs 2.5(them) fights against them before 2600!!!

    Well, 2800BC on chieftian this week is very easy. You can do it without any tricks.

    That probably means we will see some pre 2800BC scores this week.

    Haven't tried this week's game yet. Too busy playing CoD4.

    I have reached 1800BC on deity and at 2200 I have taken all cities fought the French twice and have to face them for an final third time. Unfurtunately I loose this fight every time .... I can see reaching 2200 somehow but have no idea to get in the 2800 range.

    Obviously I am not the only one at the moment. Interested to hear your strategies (PM me if "secret"; will share my knowledge too);

    Well, I managed 2400 on deity after 20 attempts (I have started keeping track), but I think it is possible to do better. Too early in the week to give out any hints yet. I was not able to pop horseback riding from any goody huts, so I will be curious to hear if anybody else does.

    I'll try to give it another go tonight to see if I can improve my date.

    tfstone: Here is one trick that might help with your fight against the French where you say you keep losing the same battle (apologies if you already know this trick).

    As you probably know, if you fight the same battles in the same order each time you play, you will get the same results due to the way the random seed works. However, there is a way to "reset" the seed to get a different (and possibly more favorable) result.

    (Obviously, one way is to conduct your battles in a different order that turn, but this tip does not help if you only have one battle that turn.)

    If you make some other battle just before you attack the French in some other location on the map, that will reset the seed. For example, if you can afford it, rush build another horse a turn or two before that battle, and get the horse next to some other barbarian village elsewhere on the map. Then, before you normally move to attack the French, attack the barbarian village first. You should then get a "different" result in the battle against the French -- but, of course, you will not necessarily win. If you still lose, you can shake things up again if you have two horsemen attacking barbarian villages (either the same or different) elsewhere. Each new battle that turn then gives you a different random seed in your attack against the French (or whoever).

    Just started working on the GotW. One of the more frustrating parts is figuring out how to take down the Barbarian villages without losing one of my 2 horsemen so I don't waste a turn healing them.

    thank you rick I will try it again. I have to rework my strategy anyway as it takes too long to get to them.
