    any tips with the french.....

...ok i've been playing with the french...their my favorite....but i always end up losing.....one time online i was beat like in 10-20 turns it was embarrasing....heheh..but really...i know that their strategy is to win the cultural victory by building the united nations..but how do i keep up with geting gold, research, and armies...when trying to build stoneage or temples...and stuff like that......and also as soon as they take your capital, paris you lose "All" your cultural points which sucks...any helps....thx

Build defensive units beforeyou make temples and wonders.

Also, don't let them take your capital

the french are decent early on, but aren't so great after the medieval era.

What I usually do is to build up a few cities near to enemy cities and attempt to convert them. Weakens them and helps toward your cultural victory.

you need to play the single player a bit more on the harder difficulties and learn from your mistakes. get some archers out build your Defense up, and utilize choke points (single or double square areas where you can fortify to keep the enemy away from your cities) nothing like strangling your enemies.

i have kinda learn from my mistakes.......
like the first time i played it i thought we were supose to build cities...and...nothing more..then i discovered......you had to take over cities too..but..i then saw that their were 4 ways to win....and since i didnt know what the cathedral did....i just ignored but thought they were cool.....so then i realized i had very low tech..because some guy told me....and lost...so the next game i talked to AI more...and discovered it helpful..for my tech productions...later i knew that cathedrals were for culture.but wasnt sure of how to use it...so i did some research.online...then i got more into it....and started to get addicted to it....French this..French that.....so then..i had a pretty good knowledge of the french...and played another game the next day..(Every game was done in a separate day)...i lost again...my capital was taken away...and lost every cultural point possible...i knew i needed some defence....so i thought maybe cannons will help me....so the next day..on a next game...i think today..yeah today...i did eveything possible to learn metallurgia (i think how ever you spell it)...and started to built a lot of cannons...i had like 5 cannon armies in paris....as i finished all my cannon defence....guess what happens....yes a fleet of a battleship comes next to my city and unloads armes of tanks an modern infantry...and take over....the only thing i had left was a city close by in the middle of the sea...with only one unit of warrior, a spy....and...no buildings no nothin....and like 10 turns later i lost, bu atleast in this one i was the last one to lose....
....i just need to find a way to get a good head start.....balanced out...
