for the love of god, stop forcing me to watch battles.

why do i have to watch every single battle play out.

how can it be possible for me to go 4 full turns without being able to play a single move myself because every second of every turn was used up with battle animations.

at least make it an option where people can choose which 'alerts' they wish to view or not.

i dont want to watch defencive battles (where i cannot retreat), i dont want to know how close i am to building a world bank or the UN, when my turn starts, i want to have control over whatever is on the screen that i have positioned my view at - not something halfway around the world.

very annoyed, had a game won (currency), my opponent is spamming my capital with many tank and bomber armies, i have roads from all my other cities to send troops to defend, a butload of gold to buy stuff, but i cannot use any of it, because every turn i am forced to spend 100% of it watching battles while unable to move my units.

Agreed, this is can shut a player down towards the end game when people will attack with 5-6 armies a turn. I haven't been on the receiving end of it, but an opponent once commented "well, i'm not going to just sit here and watch you attack me with all your armies" and left the game. They need to speed the animations up, like when the computer attacks in a multiplayer game....

This is very annoying, but its not just battles. All of the pop ups throughout the game that people with a decent handle on the game dont really need should be able to get turned off. Timing is important and if you cant take a certain choke point/attack first or do whatever first because you have 10 pop ups/alerts and your opponent only has 5 is an advantage that should not exist.

I agree, that pop up in multi player is utter frustrating, and time wasting... tick tick tick...
It'd be great to see them go, not only in multiplayer, but on the higher levels of the single player game. I love this game, but for the 10000 time of being told I have a settler, or the damn caravan of junk I'll never look at again would be a neato feature.

Giving the chug of the box of late, I'd say loading these events are not too healthy for the system either.

I agree totally. You should have an option to "leave" the battle view if you so wish, especially tiresome is watching catapults do an overrun on for example an archer army, it takes forever! It should really be fixed.

Also advisor spam is really tiresome, clicking through them to be able to get to your units that you are desperate to move before they perish is really annoying.

You should be able to disable all advisors, and maybe another range of "popups" from the options screen.

Alternatively you could trigger the advisor/research screen/building finnished etc... with a certain button AFTER you have been able to move your most critical things around. That is, first be able to go to exactly the unit you want to move, and then you have the time trigger the spam sequence.

I like the trigger idea, since the developers intention was to make it so people dont forget about their cities and units. Having the trigger alleviates both the pain of going through it when you dont want and still gives you the option of using it.

'Spam Sequence' is a nice phrase for it.

Ya hope all of this sequence can be remove as well. Most of the turn-based game have this.

Something like Viva Pinnata would be nice too, like a series of event update below your screen. Only show when you click it.

I love how you referenced VIVA PINATA. that crazy, canabalistic game is so colorful and funny.
