  2. Have you updated all of your drivers? Did you upgrade to dx10 when going from xp to vista? Have you tried disabling windows defender?

  3. #3
yes i have dx 10 and the lastest driver for nvdia.

But i see that bioshock is in running like a process

  4. Did you try disabling any anti-virus software/windows defender? Do you have any virtual or emulated drives? If you do, try unhooking them before installing.

So you have the game on Vista, . This Guide should have what you are looking for. It is a Vista trouleshooting guide. http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18590

To disable Windows Defender follow these steps:

Click the Start button, select All Programs, then Accessories and finally Run. Type in msconfig and click OK. Click Continue when Vista’s security warning appears. Select the Startup tab and remove the check from the box labeled Windows Defender. Click OK. Restart your PC when prompted. And from now on when Vista starts, Windows Defender will no longer run (use the Task Manager to check). To use taks manager, select Ctrl +Alt + Del and select Task manager from the menu

-This works if it is already on.

I found this from a previous post

Right click on the game shortcut on the desktop and choose properties.
    Then choose the "Compatibility" tab.
Check the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for".
from the drop down menu please choose "Windows XP SP2".
    Now apply the changes.
Right click on the shortcut for the game again and choose to run as admin.

If you do not have a shortcut on the desktop, navigate to the following and right click on the Bioshock.exe file.

    Local Drive C:/Program Files/2K Games/Bioshock/Builds/Release

Try and run it on xp if possible. This is a Realtek download if you use it.

Also try and disable EAX and reverb.

how to fix bioshock- your welcome :)

I had the exact same problem. The answer is very simple.... download the update for bioshock to 1.1 . After this, install a no-cd crack (the bioshock.exe file) the crack and a direct link to an update can be found at http://m0001.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_bioshock.shtml
The crack is for those of you (like myself) who either lost or broke their damn dvd. Just install this crack so you can play without the DVD even if you have it, because the dvd is securom or something, so its a ***** to use. The crack will go around the many errors on the dvd made by the manufacturer to "prevent piracy"- so you can play without every crashing. This has NOTHING to do with your computer, just the software.
    Your welcome you ungrateful bastards
