No man, no buying stores. There is already a game for that kinda stuff and it's called GTA :P
And yes, I like the ideea of paying the bus/cab to take you somewhere and buying cars, food, and using money to gamble. houses...? it would be cool for the game to not let you buy 50 houses like in GTA, maybe an apartement and a vila is enough.

That would be nice that you could buy something more than just a food or clothes unlike in the GTA4 you have about 700'000 and can't buy anything but a food or clothes.

I think that any ideas for money should have lots of possibilities, e.g. Clothes. Could be used to identify people, could be customised, make your own logo to put on your clothes, have a team dress code etc.

    Cool

Well... I think.. as the Empire City will be HUGE, I thought maybe they could do few hotels in a city to use them as a saverooms, so you don't have to come back all across to your apartment to save game, you can just pay for a night at nearest motel, hotel etc... As I've heard save system will be similar to GTA, cause there won't be any freeride, the gameworld will be opened all the time...

Personally what you could by in grand theft auto disappionted me greatly, I mean some clothes and food and cabs. Personally I think mafia 2 would be even better if you could by fronts or businesses with gambling or money laundering joints in the back and give you a source of income like the godfather game it would make it feel more mafiaish

True. But let's face it. People would just say that is a GTA IV rippoff. Which is bull**** of course, cos GTA IV is just a style of gameplay, but still. I don't really think Mafia will head off in that direction. Cos it would mean changing the whole game pretty much.

    Cool

It would have been super cool if you could buy/rent bodyguards, And it would be cool if you just could relax in a bar and take a drink and chat or dance.

You're turning the game into Scarface: The Game, which is bad.

nope eeeeem im talking about that robbering a car is more like a bandal and buying a car is more like a gangster with respect AAAAND dont forget that respect will be an important part of the Mafia 2 game AAAAND i dont have played scarface but i dont think that adding those things i said will reduce MAFIA great score to the score of scarface ...capici?

Exacly. Mafia is supposed to be a lineair game, not one of those sandbox suck ass games. If I want to play some free roam, go do some road killing or just cruise around, I'll stick to GTA. Mafia is something special, it has it's own flow. Keep it like that, don't make such drastic changes. It would suck.

maybe there will be a casino this time =D

  25. how about having to go to a car lots of varying statures to buy a car? maby you could customize the car you buy, depending of the different options of the time and the class of vehicle (luxury, sport), maby down to what kind of engine you want? See, in Scarface, your cars were bought out of a catolouge, and you had no say in the color, performance, or anything else. And in Scarface your cars appeared out of nowhere, which was both good and bad. I like the idea of not having to steal your cars and actually earning money and paying for them.

Well it's not a bad idea, but I dunno. That would mean that you would earn money from somewhere, and there wasn't money in Mafia I. Was there?

it be cool to buy stores, furniture, apartments(for your women on the side), cars, even pay bills so theres a reason for you to make money but not making it annoying but just loose money at that time of the month or week.

yeah i have some ideas i think paying bills is a great idea like paying rent or paying loan sharks and paying a percentage of what you earn to the boss just like the real mafia becase thats the whole point making it as real as possible and it would stop you from acumilating lots of money quickly otherwise its pointless.you should be able to do your own think to make money as well as doing missions for the mafia and have a personal life and spending money on houses, cars(that dont dissapear if they're not parked in a spot or out of site)furniture, clothes, guns, bodyguards for your own crew, hotels, gambling, spending money on food or in bars and buying businesses for fronts to launder money because it makes it lasts longer and more enjoyable which is the reason i play games for enjoyment and not to be let down like gta4 or the godfather 2 i was sorely dissapointed with both even the first mafia wasnt as good as i was hoping i believe it had potential but wasnt great.i think it needs to be like gta, saints row,the godfather and scarface for as much enjoyment as possible its probaly inevitable that i turns out to be like them games if it doesnt then i certainly wont be getting a copy but at the minute im full of hope for the game and cant wait for it to be released.there's many possibilities for this game any one got some more ideas?

I have watched the interveiws and i have to say that if the game focuses on just the story then it will be dull and will have not really moved on since the first mafia it needs to have more freedom to be enjoyable and like i said before thats why i play games and just because im new to this forum doesnt neccesarely mean im new to gaming or game forums.

Dude, you're clearly not Mafia II material, go home and play GTA, Siants Row and all the other games in that area. Mafia II is not like that, wont be like that and definitely should NOT be like that. If you really want a mafia (and I don't mean the game but the actual mafia) style free-roam game than buy Godfather II (I know it's not a good game but that's the closest you will get). Posts where you say you hope for more similarity between GTA and Mafia II will only result in dozens of replies of angry Mafia II fans who expect the exact opposite.
BTW, why should the game progress so much? Mafia I was simply the best game ever...

    Post Money

I've read somewhere that when you advance through the game, you will become a higher ranked mafioso so you will get free food, becouse you will be respected and the clothing will be free too, I think it's a minus, becouse when you are highly respected you are rich. So where will you put the money?

  38. no disrespect but i think we are going over board here, i really carnt see the devs putting half this stuff in as it will distract from the main story line..

you carnt have a griping story AND a fully fleshed out sandbox side, there two completly different aspects, 2k wont do do it i will put a years wages on that one...

there will be cool stuff yea but if half of the above was implemented the story would be a secondary factor in the game making it NOT mafia and more like a GTA ripoff

    just my opinion though

    what about Mafia 1?

if you've watched everything out there you'll see it has moved on, there are a huge range of improvements over the first game & more freedom, but it's still a linear movie like experience, driven by the story, which to me is the single most important thing.

Well 2 be perfectly honest if mafia 2 turns out anything like the first one with just the story and a crappy free ride mode then i dont want to be as you say mafia 2 material.
BTW, to quote mafia I was simply the best game ever, I think you will find sales records will prove you wrong at what point was mafia I the best selling game ever?
