Ok I am trying to play this game again hopeing the patch will come soon. Well now the last 2 games I have built the wonder Oxford University to get an advanced technology. Both times it has givin me nothing. I am playing the GOTW now that it just happened. Before I was playing a reg. singal player game. Has anyone eles had this happen?
Are you saying that you did not receive ANY new technology after building the Oxford? If that is so, then it is definitely a glitch or a bug.
Did you post this also on the stickied thread on top? Perhaps you could post there too to get the developers' attention.
Personally I haven't encountered this problem. But I assume you were pretty upset when this happened.. not once but twice no less.
Well, I went to Christ Church, University of Oxford, and got nothing out of it, but I doubt if you mean the same thing..
Seriously, you're right. I've started playing and a few of the wonders don't seem to do anything at all..
Well what sucks more is that I can't build cannons. Now im going to get killed untill till I can get tanks but for some reason I can get a tank in my techs. I am sure I already have glob. open and have opened gunpowder. Not sure whats going on. Glad I wasted my time AGAIN!
As for did I post it up in the sticky. No I didn't. I really don't think it matters anymore. I have this feeling they are just lost this thing is so messed up. I mean they came out with a patch and that just made it worse. I hope when they fix a few big things that will fix some of the small things. I know sometimes just a small mess up in code can knock other things out. I have posted my issude there before but hell it's so long now whats the point?
LOLok now I just won an upgrade and my rifleman just vanished! LMAO oh man and I can reserch to get tanks and my cannons are gone. I guess im starting over. You know what I think its time to go back to take it back and play some CD4. Then I can wait for Mers. 2 to come out.

This is not necessarily a bug. With this wonder you "learn the technology of other nations". If you're ahead in technology though, you'll learn nothing :-)Originally Posted by Hodory

Correct! I normaly get flight at that time. It has to be a problem. Seeing that it took cannons away from my list. The thing is that the civs that I had building cannons where still building them. I just could no longer select then from my build unit list. I was wrong about the tank thing. I was able to build them later. I just had to get a few other techs. It just messed me up cuz I normaly didnlt have to build the techs if a was creating a bunch of sience.

The ignorance on this board is amazing. That is completely and totally false. It has nothing to do with the techs the AI has. You learn a advanced Tech, but you must have at least 1 prerequsite for that advanced tech.
2 things I think I discovered about Oxford University:
1. When you build it, you only get one new technology per turn. They don't all just hit you in a rush.
2. Once any AI or human player has researched University, your wonder is obsoleted.
What happened to me is that I found I was behind in technology. I got a lucky great builder and popped up the Oxford wonder right quick. I got one technology out of it on my next turn, and then someone learned University and it was done. Perhaps someone already had learned University before you built it? I've noticed that long after I've already learned University in a game, the Oxford wonder is still often available to be built.

I have gotten oxford and got nothing also.What really makes me mad is when I get Leonard's and my cats don't upgrade to cannons.I have had it happen before I researched metalury and after. I have also had galleons not upgrade to cruisers. I think there is more bugs with Leonard's than Oxford.

You may have gotten the tech, but it didn't tell you. I thought I didn't get one, but I then noticed bombers in one of my cities. A common one to get is Atomic Theory, and you don't get any advantages for having it first. I would just check your building cue for stuff you didn't research.

Oh come on... we all know Hertford > Christ ChurchThe fact that you didn't read his post or the posts that followed is shocking. He was under the impression that that Oxford University was a different wonder - i.e. the Great Library which gives you the techs of OTHER civs.

This is true I didn't check that but even so why did my cannons get taken off my unit build list? So if it did give me something that I didn't check it still messed up somewhere. You very well could be right that I got something that I wan't use to looking for. Normaly it tells me what tech I have got from it.
I thought I encountered the same problem as the OP: I built the Oxford University Wonder and apparently "nothing" happened because I didn't receive the usual message that I had researched a new Tech.
However, what I did notice was that after I completed the Oxford University Wonder in my capital the city interface popped up and instead of the build completion message informing me that Oxford University had be built in my capital it said SDI Defence was built instead. That's when I realized that Oxford had granted me the Superconductor Tech, and since I was first to discover it I received a free SDI Defence in my capital.
So perhaps the Oxford University Wonder isn't really "broken" or "buggy", but it simply doesn't inform you what advanced tech it's given you, like it should.
Maybe it gave you Automobile so you could no longer build cannons, but you could build artillery.
