Need Help with City Location (Resources)
I had thought I could make an educated choise on starting a new city but seem to be having issues.
Several games I had flipped cities and looking at their location and amount of Science/Gold/Population they generate though I understood where cities should be built.
However when I build a city in a similar setup I can't seem to reach the same population/science/gold level as a AI city I have converted.
I guess my question is why?
Also a island with access to whales, fish seem to generate the best/fastest science/population you can generate but what are the optimal conditions for a GOLD city?
Firstly converted cities may have Library's or Marketplaces, and/or their upgrades, which'll be why they seem faster, however if you build the same in your own city, it will produce the same.
Also note that the Mongols get +50% trade in captured cities, so that may be another reason.
And finally... it's down to teh population. The higher the population, the more production you get.
Oh and anything that's good for research will be good for gold, just build a Marketplace/Bank instead of a Librart/University.

I do understand their relationship with population growth but I can't seem to match the production when I build on the exact same island (different game) and reach the same population level with no Library's or Marketplaces (as they didn't have any).
Is this because of the different bonus's the different cultures get?
