Thread: Replay Value?

  1. #1

    Question Replay Value?

Mafia 2, while the story/campaign looks incredible, I was wondering; is this game REALLY going to have a high replay value? The creators said they were going to "stick to what they do best" (I can't remember exactly who said this, if someone could post his name and position, i would appreciate it) which never really includes a multiplayer or a co-op, which is what most games need to get replayed more than once. This also means that they plan to make the game very linear, meaning there won't be much freedom or a sandbox style gameplay.

What do you guys think? Would a longer delay be worth the wait for an added multiplayer or Co-op? Honestly, I think so.

@ OP ... well if Mafia 2 is anything like Mafia (on PC) i would say it will have quite great replay value especially considering it's linear cause i must have replayed Mafia (on PC) atleast 5+ times im guessing which i almost never replay a single player game that much. cause take GTA series for example, even though i liked em quite a bit i never replayed ANY of those games more than 1 time... so once i beat them i never went back to them unlike Mafia... i think what makes mafia so great is the characters and it feels like mob movie (which im a huge fan of mob movies) and it gets you in the moment with the atmosphere and that 'old days feel' to it etc... they just create a experience unlike any other game out there especially in it's genre.... i think Mafia (on PC) was under appreciated vs the slightly over praised (even though i like it) GTA series... cause ill take Mafia (on PC) over any of the GTA games (especially the GTA games prior to GTA4) in the long run.

as for your question about 'adding in multiplayer'... i say no way cause mafia aint a game that would be good for multiplayer as it's made to be single player and all it would do is waste time developing a mediocre multiplayer experience when that time could be spent in fine tuning the single player aspect.

Please specify that "something". Otherwise it's just hype.

Wow, dustmonster42 aren't very good at reading on "the internets", are they? You really don't read his comments, and then you start blabbing about explaining the "something".

I kind of agree. A delay would be worth it for Co-op but for a game that is in the Mafia series they will not include Co-op.
