    The Calm Before the Storm...

It seems there are very few regular posters at this forum. Thinking about how that should change with the eventual release of BioShock, posting here can sometimes feel a little eerie, like being the first few people at a soon to be huge festival.

i'm sure the forums will grow more and more... maybe more people would join if there would be some forum-member-only competitions.

There seems to be a nice little community forming, which I guess was one intention of the Cult. I don't even think most of my contributions have been strictly Bioshock related.

I've seen with many game-specific forums there's a hive of activity in the months surrounding release, but then it fizzles out. I expect Bioshock will be a special game though and will have a more longer lasting community.

I'd be around more if I could. With my job, I put in lots of long hours. 16 hours days for me are not uncommon. Next week,I have nine in a row coming up. Lots of time I'm here on my lunch break. So many things to do, so little time.

posting here can sometimes feel a little eerie,
You feel eerie, while I feel a little unsettled. Try being 51 and knowing all to well that your Rapture Mom is younger than one of her "kids". The unsettled feeling soon dwindles once I recall her post, "I love you Kids". Then I just feel all warm and unsettled.

This is one of very few forums I've actually stuck around at for more than 5 minutes. I think, maybe, that's because it isn't full of dickheads

I too have to juggle the Internet around my work time. And social drinking time. And attending-to-girlfriend's-every-possible-need time. And Oblivion.

    Oh sweet Oblivion...

Once the 'mongolian hordes' arrive it might be a little different. :/

I'm basically (more or less) online all day, so I've generally I've got at least one browser in the stack open at forums.2kgames.com

That tends to happen when the forum is only about one game, and personally, I doubt that if this would be any different if it was a Bioshock only forum.

As it's a 2K forum, there will continue to be a consistent community if the Bx crowd is also into their other games. We'll just have to wait and see what they cook up next.

@LEC: that's the one advantage of a forum for an 'R'-rated game, most people here should be mature.

Dude— part of me wants to say 'I think she just threw that out there', while another part of me thinks I probably shouldn't say anything, since you seem to take such gratification from the comment.

Also— that money really seems to be burning a hole in your pocket. Are you sure you can't think of something better to do with it?

Yeah, for example, I can't bear the GameSpot forums at all nowadays. It just boils my piss reading some of the crap those snottly little brats come out with. It's certainly the only place where I've seen a simple console wars discussion (itself, utterly pointless IMO) turn into a racist slagging match

I am when at work, but if the boss saw me typing away on forums instead of attempting my massive back-log of work-stuff... well, I'd be in trouble, anyway...

And at home... untill they find a way to quench the need for World of Warcraft intravenously, trying to peel Mrs.LEC away from the computer is a dangerous thing to even consider.

First part: I know she just threw that out there. I'm just having some fun with her post. That's all. Nothing more.

Second part: No, I don't have money to burn. I do however feel the contest should be open to all the Rapture family if said country is not on the US hit list. There are some folks out there whom would very much like to be in the running whom aren't now. I would like for them to be at least given a chance at it. Chance at something like this doesn't happen every day. For some, it would be a once in a life time opportunity. I believe in it so much, I'm willing to put something into it more than just a few posts. I still stand by my offer to 2K/Rapture Mom

First time posting in a forum and getting as many as I have. Well, I have once or twice posted on xbox.com and imdb but this is the first gaming forum I've been 'committed' to.

Who knows, the game could bomb and everyone posting now would still be the only posters, lol. Course, I'm just joshing ya.

I'm more interested in seeing if the 'Darkness' forum goes up once the game gets released here in a bit. It's pretty bare compared to BS but man does it look amazing. In fact, this weekend I might pick up Riddick because I've ignored it for too long.

    lol

Could you imagine if it was really crap.

    @Adam Nuhfer— okay...just wasn't sure there for a while.

As for the cash— I think it's probably more to do with the hassles envolved, but who knows.

Man, If BS bombed I would be ashamed of my fellow gamers. Especially since it's being brought to the console front. Of course, if FPS's are not your cup of tea that's fine, but if you have a remote interest in the genre I cannot see how BS wouldn't at least perk your interest.

But it would be nice for it to do well, so we get a sequel. I believe Ken said he'd be happy doing 4 or 5 IP's for the rest of his life and Bioshock was one of them. (was in a PC gamer mag a long way back)

I'm sure it should be okay. It at least looks like it's going to be really good, and I'm sure it has to be better than SS2, and probably better than 90% of the shooters out there.

I'd love to see at least one sequel. If it's as big a success as I think it's going to be, that would be really exciting.

Your probably right about the hassles. Visa or passport issues, Patriot act, back ground check, legal issues. I just thought it was worth a try as they do have an Aussie studio. IG personal travel back and forth freely between Australia and here. Hence they could open up the contest to a few more countries. With the great ties we have with the U.K., it only seems fair to invite them along with Australia. With Europe being the neighbor of the U.K., it's only fair to invite them to. With the exception of a few hard ass countries that don't like us, it would be nice to see them all able to partake of the contest. More than likely a dumb idea on my part. Still would like to see it happen. Until Mom says no, there is hope

Then again, no reason they couldn't do the same thing at the Aussie studio. A party at Boston and one in Australia. One winer for there, one for here. Just another idea for Mom to mull over
