Sick and tired of my console freezing!

Jesus christ 2K is going to single handedly destroy my 360. Every other game online my console freezes. This also happened in MLB2K8, published by... ya, you guessed it.

    Ridiculous.

If you dont like it try the EA sports games. not only are they made better...i find that the gameplay is better too. but you gotta remember 2K/fixaris is not and will never be Bungie, ubisoft, or infinity ward. they just simply arent as good at what they do. but civ rev is fun despite the freezing and overall 2K did a good job on this one.

Is there any other games similar to Civ Rev that just came out or about to release for the 360?

Freezing is a 360 problem in general. This probably means its time to give ol' 1-800-4MyXbox a call and ask for repairs. Not to worry they'll have you back online in a month about. That is, if the first one they send you back isin't broken as well.

The only freezing I've had on my 360 is the one where the Cogs keep spinning between turns. That one fixes though when someone quits and the game continues on fine.

not really...most console gamers dont have the mind nor the patience for TBS games so not many have been made. There will be a boom of great RTS games coming out in the fall and winter. Tom clancys endwar (made by ubisoft) and halo wars (made by bungie?) look pretty good. there are plenty more coming out but those are my top 2. go to ign.com and search for RTS games for more info

i havent experienced any 360 freezing problems except for a few select games. much better than my PS3. but xbox customer support sucks. instead do this (might be illiegal). i call this my walmart new xbox strat. (i have never done this).

go to walmart. buy a 360 (same type you have). take new 360 out of box. put broken 360 into box. return it. laugh as dumbass 80 year old walmart employee doesnt check the serial number. congrats...you now have a new free xbox in 1 hour or less.

No, you are wrong. My 360 is completely fine. I rent every type of a game imaginable from GameFly, playing daily, this never happens. I ask every time I get into an online game if the 360 freezes for anyone else. As you would suspect, everyone says "yes". It is not a 360 problem, there is a problem with the game.

If you ask whether or not the 360 freezes and everyone says yes then I think that means it is a 360 problem. Everyone knows 360's start to freeze when they're dying, they always have.

You can get one for free in a month or you can wait it out untill its finally dead and you get the red lights. My brother thought Chromehounds was broken because it kept freezing. However it never froze on my xbox. He got a new one sent to him and it was fixed.

I am incredibly annoyed that it has been suggested twice in this thread that it is a 360 issue. ITS NOT. This happens to me all the time as well, and there have been NUMEROUS threads in ALL THREE forums about this problem. Someone else already said it, but I too have many other games that I and my roomates play on a regular basis (including GTA4, Halo3, CoD4) and we have NO PROBLEMS with freezing in any of them. This is a problem with the GAME, and more importantly with the multiplayer matchmaking and server setup.

blaming the 360 is just a childish cop out, i wish 2k would actually listen to us

If it isin't the 360 then it must be your disk. My 360 doesn't freeze playing this game it only does the stuck-loading-between-turns thing and I think the new patch was going to be fixing that.

So if I'm not getting any problems with my game, then how can it be the game? The two other variables are the console and the disk. If you don't want to believe that its the console then get a new disk and see if it makes a difference.

It's the 360. Broken console is broken.

So I'm playing Deity difficulty and I'm like, six turns or so away from my technological win so I can get the achievement. The English are launching their own spaceship pieces and so I decide to fire off my nuke on Newcastle, which is their biggest city. Game freezes right before detonation, and I didn't save any progress.

Not. Happy. I'm leaving the 360 on to see if it unfreezes at all (unlikely), but it looks like I'm going to have to try again tomorrow. ARGH.

360's work fine ussually, but they get old. They get filled with dust and start overheating, and then eventually they can't go longer than 10 minutes without getting the red lights. Doesn't mean 360's suck or anything like that, but it is a real problem. Why do you think they come with a warrenty? These posts pop up on forums for every 360 game. In fact, they pop up on forums for games on all systems including the PC. Place the blame where you want its still going to happen.

That's garbage. Every game on 360 doesn't have posts like this or the same problems. Read real carefully... This... game... has... a... problem... in... multiplayer. The game, not the console. That's why 2k was "aware" of the issues and "released a patch." This is a 2k issue with the game, period.

You're right about one thing though, it is still going to happen.

I guess my brothers and I are just lucky then that none of us have had this problem on any of our 360s.

Yeah i'm getting really annoyed by freezing too now. My xbox360 is relatively new for a 360 and with every other game it runs flawlessly. I have a solid connection too, especially now that i've updated my router to one that can actually hand and prioritizes my connection when online on the 360. I almost never even get lag, yet almost every single game on Civ Rev freezes. Whether it's the cogs getting stuck, resyncs, or the game simply getting stuck when I quickly hit the b button after opening my city screen.

Normally I wouldn't mind, but on Civ Rev i've been playing a fair amount of ranked match games and I had a nice solid record. However tonight I was disconnected from 3 games. =/ Twice the cogs, once it resynced only to show the entire map covered in fog again and with no diplomacy option available to me and then the game froze my xbox at the end of that turn.

I mean, I can understand the occassional laggy problem, and normally it wouldn't bother me but it seems every time I get close to the 100th position the game freaks and lags me out of matches ~_~. Also considering I just got back from Dark Knight I know it wasn't over heated, especially since I played two maps of gears after just to make sure (for the umpteenth time) that the issue wasn't my 360 but Civ Rev.

It's an amazing game, but i'm seriously considering shelfing it until they at least 'attempt' to fix the freezing problem. I've never had it happen on any other game I can't help but be unimpressed at 2k's quality.

    I have quite trying

Until 2K figures out why this thing is freezing in single player I give up. 60 bucks down the drain. Every game is locking up on me 20-30 turns in.

Grab some liquor and just relax. Save every two to five turns and if your console freezes it won't be an issue. If you're still overly frustrated I suggest you buy a working console. (hint, not a Failbox 360)

    Flawed

The 360 does have its problems but I just think it is reasonable to expect a developer to have worked out the kinks before they release this stuff. I mean civ was delayed a long time. Rebooting your machine constantly can't be good for it. Nope... this one goes on the shelf with the hope that 2k will get their act together and patch it.

If I could build a time machine and go back before the release of this CIV game, and was told that there may be some issues with freezing during MP games therefore the game won't be released until this was fixed, I would demand to have the game for me to play and suggest they patch the problems later. This game was delayed way too long. I am having a Kick-A$$ time playing this game.
My wife, two kids, and especially my dogs miss me a lot since this game was released here in the USA.

This is defiantely not a console problem.
I have 2 360s and it freezes on both. I also have a couple of friends with the game that have the same issue.
None of these machines experince freezing with any other game.
Also whats with the random disconnects in multiplayer I don't think my friends and I have finoshed one game without atleast 1 disconnect and it's usually more.
is there a patch in progress for these issues as reading all the posts on this thread there does not appear to be.
That would be a great shame as I loev the game and I don't want to stop playing due to technical glitches which spoil the experience.

  32. I think it needs to be noted:

    Multiplayer:
The problem is to do on 2K's side, any freezings in Multiplayer have been acknowledged by 2K/Firaxis, and have been submitted to be reviewed by Sony/Microsoft. Hopefully the v1.2 patch will be released shortly. Till then your just going to have to wait. I can understand your upset about it, but at the end of the day, you can either moan and groan and be unhappy, or you can play another game in the meantime, and come back to CivRev when the issues are fixed. Also you can try checking your status on the dashboard when your X360 freezes. Is it online or away? I read a thread here that suggested that Away = Freeze, Online = No Freeze. Try changing it and seeing if that works.

    Single Player:
Personally speaking the only freezing issues I've had is when I open the CivPedia via the Triangle button on my PS3. If you are having freezing issues on the XBOX360, every couple of minutes/turns, to me logic suggests that it's your console, however, I also know of something else that can cause this - being signed online. If your connected online, if you sign off (or if your playing CivRev on an X360 see if your status is on away, if it is change it to online to see if that works, if not, just sign out). I know that with GTAIV, being connected online caused A LOT of problems, and the solution to play offline was to simply stay disconnected whilst playing offline and wait for the patch which came, and saw multiplayer get fixed (more or less).

Please don't turn this into a 'XBOX360s suck PS3's are the best'. I'm sure you all have your preferences, telling the author of this thread to get a PS3 is NOT a solution. There are just as many problems with the PS3 version as there are X360, in fact you can't even go online in the PS3 version.
