Thread: Better fix for Defensive upgrading

    Better fix for Defensive upgrading

Rather than removing ANY skill points from the defender when the attacker retreats, why not just give them 1 exp point? If people wanted to spend the time attacking each other to get exp points, they will just be wasting turns because it will be 6 turns for each person to get a unit to veteran and 6 more to get an upgrade.

I really don't like the idea of my defensive units being prevented from get experience because someone retreated. They DID win and should get SOMETHING.

Agreed, and as mentioned elsewhere, does this mean the scout upgrade will be removed from multiplayer as well? I'm sure this was exploited, but in ranked games you're relying on someone else agreeing to cheat with you. Does this happen with such frequency that there is an immediate need to make a change that affects EVERY multiplayer match? It just seems like a knee-jerk reaction rather than an elegant solution to the problem. Why not remove retreating altogether from multiplayer? What is to stop someone from time-grief retreating? Nothing like having the screen focus shift repeatedly in a 60 second turn....

Even better idea... how about, instead of the defender getting upgraded, the attacker gets downgraded?

I like the downgraded idea. Perhaps a 2-3 turn demoralization debuff(-50% attack).

or -50% stats, and loss of veteran for two turns

That's a good idea. Or maybe it would be even simpler just to disable retreating in team/FFA games...

downgraded won't do too much. Cuz most people will still use a weaker unit as their "scout" unit and then the winning defensive unit still wont get anything.

Or better yet each unit (including if it later join up with an army) only get one retreat for the whole game. After this it's win or die.
Another option would be to give each player a limited amount of retreats for the whole game; like 10 for example.

    Best idea yet.

    One retreat per unit. Genius.
