anti arab rush

what is your personal plan against the strong arab rush?

my personal favourite is simply to take archers and be sure to keep my cities in well defended areas, on hills or over rivers etc

when possible keep a counter attack army in each city too, works for me but is time and resource heavy especially when the arabs can be rushing other CPU contolled civs for easy cities

I often counter with... *drumroll* ... arab rush!

But when not playing arabs, I find that a fast archer army might do the trick, especially when combined with some attacks out of the base. Remmber that the horseman defense is only 1, and fundamentalism doesn't work defensively.

This means that if you've got some horsemen of your own to help out those archers, it should be more than possible to stop an arab rush.

It might be clever to keep around some money to rush your units, so that you don't have to put all your resources into defending. After all, you might not get rushed at all.
