    What exactly do Fighters do?

Ok I am puttering along at a pretty good pace after playing my second "KING" game and having won both (Tech. and Dominance victories with Spanish), BUT there is a question I am unable to locate in search (maybe not asking it right??)

Anyway why do fighters not act as a support unit when hovering next to or on a square that is being attacked or attacking kinda like the ships do?

Fighters are mainly used for attacking Bombers and weaker units. I don't know why they don't act as support either and there is a bug where they are captured when a Spy is on the same spot as them due to that.

Funny story! LOL I think you misunderstood what I meant though. It hasn't happened to me but I read about it.

Basically if you have a Spy of yours, and a Fighter of yours (I don't remember if this affects Bombers) on the same spot, when an enemy unit walks up they usually instantly capture a Spy, unless there is defense on the square. The Fighter does not defend and the Spy PLUS your Fighter become your enemy's. I think it's a bug.
