Thread: Is Everyone Like This?

  1. Is Everyone Like This?

The last couple online games I have played, have been amazing. I have really only played against the guys who are long time Civ. Players. But anyway, Almost everyone I have played has been really nice and prefer peace over war. Thanks to this I have played some truly incredable games. In my last online match, no one quite, and no one declared war on another Human untill the very end where it was. Destroy me, or lose the game. I still won, but thats beside the point.

So is everyone mellow like this? or have I just gotten lucky so far?

Most of my games have been like that, the majority of civ players online have been pretty nice too (giving me techs, helping me with the AI , ect)

that is what happened to me (all wanting peace) although the games i play don't make it to the end b/c either ppl quit or my game freezes so i guess you r lucky on that part of it

Yea, I prefer peace over war... Until I get tanks...

However, If you begin to encroach upon me, or attack me... I will mess your civilization up.

I don't know if anyone here has ever watched the show King of the Hill but a quote from the show comes to mind here...

"Pop pop dad, you leave yourself open your going to get hit."

If you move a settler next to my warriors and you don't defend it, that settlers mine. That saves me 2 population+time.

If you try to caravan my city and you don't move it right so that I get a chance to capture it, its mine. I'll send it back to you, but I'm getting the 50 gold and you can have the 15.

If you try to spy me you can sure as hell expect that to head back your way.

In the end your all at war. You might be going for victories that don't involve war but even then, you are trying to beat the other players. Why do people think that if they want to win a cultural victory they shouldnt defend themselves or do anything else? I hate it when people leave one archer army defending their town. Seriously? One unit? I can't just sit there and let you take over my cities with culture when one army of catapults can stop it.

Then they quit. I don't understand how people can expect me to just sit around doing nothing the whole game. I really don't. I figure if they don't understand how to defend themselves in the begining of the game they'll never win later on anyway. Might as well get them done with so they can go find another game. I've had people stay in a game for 3 hours and then just quit when I move one unit into their territory.

I once faced a player who only had one warrior... NOT an ARMY, ONE WARRIOR! protecting his capital!

And at his other places he had only 1-2 archers, also not armies.

    I had tanks...

Ill admit that On a few occasions I have left my cities unguarded or barely guarded. But thats usually only the internal ones, not all of em, and my capital has effin massive amounts...

No one is taking my capital without a massive fight.

I like goin until the end in peace, and take the AI's out off the game, like in my last game, we had just built our nations up and ransacked the AI's until the end when my friend was going to win a economy victory, we had a big war ending with a nuke on my city then peace with 1 city left and a settler on a island.

But maybe ranked games are different?

The games I have played have usually ended in BC wars and people quitting...

I'm going to play slowly as England in my next game(s), in order to get the game to last a little while longer. That is, if they can fix the MP issues that came with the last patch.

Now the games lasts more than long enough just waiting for other players, and I can quit without a game starts, comfortably knowing that it at least lasted for a couple of hours.

I was playing with two people and we were on a peace treaty. It was 2010AD and they both used their nukes to take out the Japenese and Romans. I then used my nuke to take out the bigger Civ and quickly dominated the other. They were really nice to me though (before the nuke)
