Question about the advanced tech

When you research advanced tech what does it do? I didn't notice any new buildings or units. Come to think of it why are we in the 21 century with B17 looking bombers and mustang looking fighters. Where are the Stealths, UFOs or mechs?

Do you mean future technology? if so:

The first time you complete research of Future Technology, every region worked by your cities that yields Production will see its yeild increased by one. The second time you research it, all your food regions provide plus one food. The third time all regions that produce trade will be increased by one. then the whole process starts over. production +1, food +1, trade +1.

I should of just put see civilopedia under future technology.
