Will the europeans get extra content for the DS version? It's released later here than in the US. And seriously, I would have waited 10 more days if I knew I would get free extra content.
If we use the codes once and then the data gets deleted can we redeem the stuff again.
Once you download them they will be tied to your XBL account. And in your download history. So you'll be able to download them again that way. And since MSFT has now released a way to transfer licenses to a new 360, you'll be able to move it if you buy a new 360.
I'm unsure of what could be done if you lose your XBL account.
Sorry, didn't mean to assume. For both the PS3 and 360 your download history is tied to your account, so if you delete the DLC off your hard drive you'll be able to redownload it (not needing the Redeem code). I'm not sure how PS3/SONY handles transfering the license to another machine should your PS3 die, but the license will be tied to your account.
It seems that my copy of Civ Rev that I got from GameStop didn't have a free giftcard inside. is there any way to get the gift without having to wait and pay for it later?
I purchased the last copy from a Gamestop store in Fullerton, CA. The copy was sold as new but was a display copy and the shrink wrap was already removed. After reading this fourm, I went back to the store to see if I could get the card or sticker on the shrink wrap but they do not have it. I called gamestop's customer service but they said only the store or 2kgames could help me. What are my options to get this gift code?

I have a question? With the DLC since i already have the code coupon and i use it. And say if my friend wanted to use my code for his game to have the DLC from my code would that mess up my thing as well? in other words is the code only used for only one system or can multiple people use your code to get the free DLC???![]()
It will depend on two things - What console you have which is one thing. If you have an XBOX360 then you can't do that. If you have a PS3 read further...
If you have a PS3, it will depend on the type of content, if it's a Type A or a Type B, fortunately most contents are Type A.
Type A:
Can be downloaded Five Times
Used by Any Account
Type B:
Can be downloaded Unlimited Times
Used by only the account you downloaded with
I doubt they will make this content Type B, they only do that with big name games (Warhawk), so essentially you can go to his PS3, create a new accoutn on his PS3 and sign in with your PSNID, go to your download list, and download it again.
But remember you only have a limited number of downloads - I know I've already used 3 of my Resistance: Fall of Man downloads, two more and I'll have to pay for it again - so it's not like it wont happen...
so why couldn't you do it on the 360 then? so i couldn't use the code on my system and then after i got it take it over to my friends house the code i mean and have him use the same code i have on the 360? to have him use it on his? so in other words we can use the same code even though it would be two different xobx 360's?![]()

Each Code can only be used ONCE. And so you can only activate it on ONE account. I'm fairly sure that with the X360 the downloads are linked to the XBOX Account (I don't have one myself so not sure), but if that wasn't the case, wouldn't EVERYONE just download the downloads once and go to their friends house and download it onto their account.. that way if you have 10 friends with XBOX's, you only need to get the download once and each of you can have it - that obviously isn't right, so I'm sure that they will have made the downloads either Console Dependant (so will only work on the Console that you baught it on) or Account Dependant.
How do the other Downloadable Content on XBOX360 work? It will work in the exact same way.
I've gotten a free code before on the Playstation 3 from Capcom who sent me a game that was available on the PSN and that game I could download 5 times and use on any account (and all for free). Additional Content for the PS3 is usually in the same way except for big name games as I mentioned before.
looking at the code I have for my PS3 version, I'll say no. You won't be able to use a 360 code on a PS3 system, as the code has the system its for in it.
Edit: I hope it's useable on the 18th but I have a feeling it won't be useable until the week of the 21st which would place it out of reach for me until I get back on the 30th. :/ Ah well, I'm enjoying the game as it is so I can wait.
ok so then how much would the downloadable content be then for the other two peices? is it going to be really expensive? because i have never purchased anything on xbox live so i am not for sure how you buy stuff on there to begin with. So i am hoping when it is ready for in the fall it wont be very expensive is all.
I went back to the gamestop store in fullerton, ca and spoke to the Store Manager and he was not aware of the promotion. I had printed out the information from http://www.civilizationrevolution.com/ which he reviewed. He called other stores in his district and they advised that they had not received a pack-in card with their copies nor did they receive promotional material. The store manager added that he got the game and did not have a pack-in card in his xbox360 copy.
So I do not have a pack-in card nor a satisfactory resolution to this issue. Is there a 2kgames customer service rep that I can get a resolution to this issue?
I have tried to contact 2kgames support through e-mail (Incident: 080717-000071) and gamestop store/customer service. Both are pointing fingers at each other!!!
you probably want to PM me at this point for further help and i can look into it.
tell me in the PM where you live, what your store is and where it is located, and i can check it out.
again, there were limited quantities -- the supply was not endless -- but i can figure out if there was a snafu with that info.
With the 360. Once you download an item. The DLC is linked to that console. Try useing the DLC on your freinds console, and it won't work. That is, it won't work unless you are sighned into live. Otherwise, unless you transfer the license. The DLC will be unusable by anyone without your Gamertag/Console
ok but noone answered my other question. how much will the other dlc be for when it goes out in the fall to purchase? will it be alot or what? becuase i have never bought anything on xbox live so i don't know how to go about doing something like that.
I was my understanding that the retailer exclusive DLC Wonder packs (that haven't even been released yet) will be made available sometime in the Fall for free. I haven't read anywhere that you'd have to pay for them. I thought the retailer exclusivity was just an incentive because you could d/l them earlier.
That's disappointing if 2K decides to charge for the DLC Wonder packs.
I wouldn't mind paying for "unit packs" in the future, but somehow (in my mind) I don't think it's right to charge for the Wonder packs because they were obviously created but intentionally not included in Civ:Rev so they could be reserved for DLC. I hate that! DLC should be extra content that was created after the game was completed, not content that was intentionally withheld from the game to compel players to pay for it later.
I didn't mind about the retailer exclusive content -- mostly because I buy my games from FutureShop or Bestbuy or EBGames anyway (where else would I buy them, Wal-Mart?) -- but having to pay the Wonder DLC is just wrong IMO. Besides, who knows if I'll still be playing Civ:Rev in the Fall? so it might not even matter.
ok but i am wandering if they are going to charge for the extra stuff in the fall? elizabeth are you guys going to charge for the extra dlc in the fall or will that be free a well?![]()
If the retailer exclusive DLC isn't finished yet, then neither is the DLC scheduled for release in the Fall because apparently they're the same content.
It was my understanding that the RE-DLC would be available first to be ppl who bought the games at BestBuy, EBGames, and GameSpot; then in the Fall it would be available to everyone, supposedly for "free". So basically the ppl who bought Civ:Rev from the above retailers weren't getting anything for "free", they were simply getting it first.
But since the DLC isn't ready yet, I suspect that was all BS. I suspect that the RE-DLC won't be released until the Fall, and it'll be released at the same time or possibly a week or two before the rest of the DLC. I also suspect 2K is going to charge for all the DLC, and the only ppl who get some of it for free is the ppl who bought Civ:Rev from the "exclusive" retailers.
Admittedly, this is all speculation on my part, but my intuition tells me this is 2K's plan for releasing Civ:Rev's DLC.
the DLC for the gift-with-purchase is complete. that's separate from the other stuff we are still creating.
I just checked www.2kgames.com/civredeem and it still says its in the works.
Lets say, i managed to con someone out of their gift with purchase code because they bought theirs somewhere different from where i got mine. Like I got mine from best buy and he got his from target or whatever. With both codes can I get both download packs on my 360? There isnt some lame block that says i can only have one is there?
I doubt it would prevent you from downloading both because you enter the pack-in redemption code into 2K's CivRev 'site, which generates a unique code for use on Xbox Live. 2K wouldn't be able to tell that two codes were redeemed for the same game and console, and I doubt Xbox Live would prevent you from redeeming the second Wonder pack either.
Elizabeth,
I have been talking to support with no success for the whole month now with out reslove. I purchased the game (Xbox360 version) from my local GameStop. It has the sticker on the front mentioning the download content but the there was no code card in side the case. Support has been giving me the run around for the past few weeks on this, and now that we are nearing the release date I feel I'm going to get screwed on this as it is something that should of been included.
They told me to return the game but they (GameStop) dont offer the version with the included content. If you need the Referance numbers from support I can give them to you if nessessary.
Thank You.
From the Web Page: "The downloadable content for your gift with purchase will be ready shortly (currently scheduled for later this month)"
Today is the 28th of July.... exactly when at the end of the month is this coming? 3 more days... or is 2K going to continue with: "The downloadable content for your gift with purchase will be ready shortly (currently scheduled for later this month)"
Notice how they use 'later this month', not using the word July... I expect to see the same message for another month![]()
Time to step up 2K... if you were a corner store... you would already have a an 'out of business' sign up. I have been lurking in the forum since the demo came out... had to join to put in my 2 cents. I always felt on the side of 2K, but know this is just getting lame... Too bad Consumer Reports didn't review video games... they may tell the public who turns out faulty software with no promise of fixing anything.
Easy Killer. It does say "at the end of the month" and its clearly not the end yet. Plus on CivilizationRevolution.com clearly states end of July or sarly August. Its not like this is a surprise delay or something. They never lied about anything.
Atleast your game came with a code. Mine did not come with one (yes it has the seal on the cover) and been fighting for a few weeks to get a replacement code.
thats super lame that yours doesnt have the code thinger in it. I have another question though. I have heard that the downloaded content is for single player and wont appear on the multiplayer. Correct me if thats wrong please someone.
Would it then be possible for people to just share all their codes so everyone had all the extra packs? I mean, if it was no skin off my back to give my code to someone else then i am up for a trade of codes with anyone who didnt buy it from best buy. due to a shipping error target didnt even have the game for sale until like a week ago.
Yes, very Lame.
Yes, the DL is for single player only. There wont be any code sharing as they are unique codes. Meaning once you redem it, it wont work for someone else. Since you'll have to pay for these DL in the future, I wouldnt expect to see them in MP until they would be made free to everyone. (If that ever happens)
I wish my game had the promotion. The only store in my town that carried a promo was Target, but it was for 360 and I bought the PS3 version.
Instead of having gimicks such as specific stores etc., anyone who can provide proof of purchase of the game (aka receipt) should be able to get the DLC free.
Next time keep this idea in mind, Not everyone lives in big cities with access to all of those stores that had the promos.
oh, because you get a token code deal and download the extra content on the marketplace you cant share codes huh? I forgot you do it through the marketplace. Suck, i wanted all of the new stuff.
