Hey guys!

Here is the rundown on all the gifts with purchase for those of you in the US and Canada. These are while supplies last, but you don’t need a preorder to get them. Please note that the downloadable content offers are scheduled for release later this month, though the cards are packed in. You will go to www.2kgames.com/civredeem to redeem this stuff.

Also, at the end of this is an FAQ, so check there before you ask questions!

FAQ
Q: How do I know if the DLC offer is packed in?
A: There will be a sticker on the front of the package calling out the DLC offer.

Q: How do I get the poster at Circuit City?
A: Supplies of the poster are very limited. Please see the store manager if you do not receive the poster upon receipt of the game to ensure all posters were distributed. The posters are not packed in. The gift with purchase for the poster is available for all three platforms.

Q: When will the DLC content be available for download?
A: The DLC content is planned for release later this month (July). Please keep an eye on this website and www.2kgames.com/civredeem

Q: If I don't get the content at these retailers, will I be able to get it somewhere else?
A: Yes, all DLC content will be available for purchase on PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace in early fall.

What do all these new artifacts and wonders do?

Glad you asked! Here's the rundown:

WONDERS
Lighthouse of Alexandria - your Galleys will be able to sail into open water
Colosseum - your units will upgrade faster
Trajan's Column - your Legion units all receive +1 attack
Leaning Tower of Pisa - you receive a larger cut of the profits when enemy Caravans arrive in your cities
Taj Mahal - all building produce +1 culture
University of Sankore - desert regions provide +1 trade
Scotland Yard - your great people cannot be kidnapped by enemy spies
Statue of Liberty - all cities in your civilization immediately receive two free population
Eiffel Tower - all buildings provide +1 science
SETI - your spaceship will travel faster
Sydney Opera House - settled Great Artists double the culture production of their resident city
Cristo Redentor - Cathedral buildings will prevent your cities from flipping


RELICS
Court of Camelot - all your Horsemen units will immediately be upgraded to Knights
Tower of Babel - you will instantly be put in contact with all the nations of the world
Terracotta Army - all your soldiers receive the Scout upgrade
The Sphinx - you can immediately choose to switch to any government type
The Pharaoh's Needle - you instantly receive knowledge of an advanced technology
Tesla's "Peace" Ray - all wars immediately end

So if I understand this we get the token now but can't get the DLC until later this month? Or do the people buying from these locations have exclusive access to this DLC for a few weeks?

people who get these tokens will have them activate in a couple weeks, and you'll use the website i posted to do so.

people who do not get the content with their purchase will have to wait to buy it separately sometime later this fall.

they are for single player, so they will not mess up multiplayer.

And so they wont enhance it either.. i'm pretty sure most people if not all would rather have more stuff for the multiplayer but i guess that goes against the nature of DLC as most of it is and always will be a complete rip off.

Thanks for your help Elizabeth, once the downloadable content is released for all to download will it be usable in multiplayer or will it stay single player only? Thanks.

On one hand it would be good to have more things available, but on the other hand if you have to pay for the content it could split the community between people that have it and people who don't. Which makes me think it will still be single player only, but I won't play the single player much so this likely won't affect me but I'd like to know, thanks again for your help.

You were also helpful when I was anticipating Bioshock and gave me a bit of free stuff.

No. Only the ones from the specific retailers (Best Buy, Target, Gamestop/EB, Circuit City) will have a Sticker. And the Gift with Purchase is as supplies last within those retailers. On the other hand, we did work hard to make sure there would be enough for everyone buying from a participating retailer for the release should get a Gift with Purchase.

No, that doesn't sound stupid. After going back and reading what was posted originally, it specifies "Best Buy US and Canada", but says "Gamestop/EB Canada".

So asking if Gamestop US is included in this is a valid question that I'd like to get an answer to as well.

no, it's both! you can get it in the USA too.

What She meant was EB Games Canada. (ebgames.ca)
So, yes. You can get it in the US & Canada.

Is it just me, or did Circuit City get the Mediterranean Avenue of gifts (that's a Monopoly reference for you old-timer turn based gamers)? I guess I just don't see the value of a poster. But maybe others will like it. I just can't see myself making a special trip for a poster.

Thanks for the update, I really appreciate this info being available the day before launch.

That said, I'm going to buy the DS version at CC for the poster, and the 360 version at Gamestop. I'm a sucker for free crap.

What if I buy 3 copies of CivRev with a different DLC token from each one? Do I get all the wonders and relics in the single player game then? Or can you only have one active at a time? Same question (and more realistic) if later I buy all the wonder packs and any additional ones? Will they be accumulative and/or toggle?

Also do the token expire? I won't have inet in August

yes, if you buy 3 copies, you can get all of it when it goes online.

I probably won't be buying 3 games but I'm trying to get a feel for how DLC will work in the future
ie: If the bonus Wonders from different packs conflict with each other and limit you to only one set of bonus wonders in a game at a time. I sure hope I can have them all running in the same match!

I probably shouldn't say this, but as long as I have internet I'd probably buy every CivRev DLC lol, just as long as they all work together.

for the wonders, yeah, they'd be in SP, all of em. same with if you buy them in the fall -- that's what DLC is! for the artifacts, since they aren't always on every map, those will randomly rotate.
