Mafia II is a "Game for Windows"
Reported by a german website Mafia 2 will be have the "Games for Windows" seal. But, what the heck does this mean?
"Games for Windows" get tested on XP and Vista, in a 32 and a 64-Bit mode. They are easy to in- and uninstall. They support the Vista protection of minors. The support both widescreen- and 4:3-solutions.
So in conclusion a "Game for Windows" has a higher quality then other win-games. In theory (I wont say "for real" until I see a gameplay trailer
).

Well the Games for Windows is a Microsoft's project which gathers the best PC titlles. Not every game can be published with the Games for Windows logo - only the ones that Microsoft testers approve as "qualitatibly suitable" for Games for Windows.
I'm personaly not sure how it helps the game to be part of "Games for Windows", because I have three GfW tagged games and except for the fact that they are really top titles (World in Conflict, Bioshock, Company of Heroes) and they get on quite well with all Vista features , there is nothing really special about it. I mean, the games would be good even when not part of the Games for Windows, it just helps the marketing thing and makes the games more "prestigious" I belive.
But ... it is only good for Mafia II to be on the GfW list - signs that this game is going to rule the games industry :-). BTW, it is not really a news that Mafia II is going to be released under GfW - it was mentioned in the very first Take-Two's Mafia II announcement :-).
Edit: Whole list of new GfW titles here

Yeah I see it as a $$$ tag to be honest. Since games that aren't marked with it work just fine anyway. M$ is a universal O/S that almost everything works on, or has compatibility for.
