Thread: Leonardo's Workshop

    Leonardo's Workshop

I built Leonardo's Workshop in my most recent game and it didn't upgrade a thing, even though I had Gunpowder and Steam Power. I had heaps of archer armies and a couple of Galleys.

Could there be a reason why it didn't work or is it just a bug? Is this where we post bugs (I couldn't find anywhere else)?

You might want to post which platform you're using, and if you've got the demo or the full game. Elizabeth can pass that info back to the developers to see if there's any for of bug.

FYI, I built Leonardo's Workshop in the game I was playing last night (PS3, full game, patch 1.01) and everything upgraded correctly.

Thanks. Using ps3 and with the full game (patch 1.01). Yeah it's worked every other time but some reason this one didn't. It's worked in other games on emperor I've played too.

I've had the same problem with the workshop on the 360 demo. I got the demo but it didn't do anything. I used a great builder to get it, so not sure if that for some odd reason messed it up or what. I imagine it shouldn't considering builders and other wonders work well together. I've tried using it about three times now(always as Egyptians), and it has never worked for me.

It happends to me. It seems that it upgrade one step forward but if you can't produce the unit just above the one you have, it won't upgrade it. I'm not clear... If you have archer but you don't have done the research to produce the guys with lance (Piquiers in french) even if you know the gunpowder, it won't upgrade your archers. That's how I understand the thing. It seems like a bug anyway !

Yep, it seems to work a bit erratically.

I think that is because if you have Gunpowder (Rifle) and Bronze Working (Archers) but Not Democracy(Pikes), you can build both Archers AND Rifles because Pikes are needed to make Archers obsolete.

(in the demo I rushed Steam Power before it was built... and my Galley didn't change because I didn't have Navigation for the Galleons)

I would say this qualifies as a bug, but at least it is a predictable bug.

It just happened to me again. I don't have democracy so I think you're right about needing it. I'll make sure I have that in the future. Thanks.

That doesn't sound like a bug at all, but it looks like the way the game makers intended it to be. A unit has to be totally obsolete before it can be upgraded.

I can add here for those who havent experienced it that if your leonardo's workshop is finished the same turn as you learn a new tech unlocking a new upgrade for the unit, they wont be upgraded. So make sure you get your tech researched before its finished.

Well if I have something that makes obsolete something that makes something else obsolete then it seems ridiculous

ie Archers should be made obsolete by Democracy OR Gunpowder (because that makes Democracy=Pikes obsolete) OR Mass Production (because that makes Gunpowder=Riflemen obsolete)

Pikes should be obsolete by Gunpowder OR Mass Production

Galleys should be obsolete by Navigation OR Steam Power

Warriors should be obsolete with Iron Working OR Feudalism OR Combustion

Legions should be obsolete with Feudalism OR Combustion

Horsemen should be obsolete with Feudalism OR Combustion

Catapults should be obsolete with Metallurgy OR Automobile

The fact that this does not happen I think qualifies as a bug (especiallly considering the way Leonardo's operates)

TBH the way I first read the way Leo worked it was that my units were upgraded to the best equilivelent unit that I had the techs for when Leo was built.
