    Graphic options...

Civ Rev only offers you sound options, here are some graphics options I'd like to see:

    1) Battles as reports: Instead of having the camera jump too each and every battle (extremely annoying in multiplayer) I would like to just receive a text update e.g "Archers defeated at London", "Tank victory near Berlin" etc.., so you can go about organising your armies/civ without the camera jumping around.

    2) Quality vs Performance options: I've found near the end game, once you have about 9-10 cities, big battles drop the frame rate and the game really starts to chug along. Would like to see an options where the graphics quality could be adjusted: eg. Black fog of war, instant unit movement.

    3) Alpha Centauri reports only: I dont want to see the Alpha Centauri animation everytime I/or someone launches a component. The only really vital screen to display would be the launch one imo. Otherwise I'd just like to have reports instead. Options would be nice.

4)This is not an option just a bug bear. For the diplomacy screen I would like to have the respective Civ leader just to stand and watch me as I flick through each option, only when I finally select one should they react. It is annoying to see them react each time I flick up and down the options.

Any others that you guys would like to see?

    Turn Off Animations option

I would also like to see an option to turn off the battle animations. The air battles get really annoying, they seem to keep flying around to that same music. The computer can "roll the dice" quickly without showing me all that. It would also speed up game play. A good percentage of game time is spent watching those animations. For those of us who are under a time crunch in the real world this could help make the game more enjoyable.

the only flaw multiplayerwise i see with this would be the fact that not everyone would/want to turn the animations off. This would create sort of an imbalance almost, since those who dont watch the battles would have more time to move around / keep attacking, counter attack etc. while the others would be watching one or two battles. It ultimately would become the same as dlc for multiplayer. Either you'd have to do it or you could never competitively play.

I agree with you guys that it'd be a nice option, but I just don't see how you could really make it fair between people whose battles start / end instantly, and battles for people who actually watch the whole thing. Obviously they couldn't simply say 'if you want to watch the animations that were a part of the game, well too bad you're going to lose.' so that would have to be addressed in some way...like perhaps you couldn't attack someone watching battle animations or something. Fairly sure that's already in place, but I can't be certain. If it is then great, I guess there isn't that big a time sync issue. If it isn't an option then I suggest that be put in effect...as well as a second or two delay after the animations perhaps, so someone can't select a unit and have the attack thing hovering over your unit, and then just instantly attack as soon as they're allowed to again. Meh I dunno, maybe i'm over thinking this. I just know that even the simplest of changes can drastically change how a game plays.

    Turn Animations Off

I was thinking more about a single player option. As a multiplayer it would probably have to be a game by game basis. The game as a whole either has it on or off. You are right it might be difficult in multiplayer scenario. It should be pretty straight forward for single player.

With the upcoming 1.3 patch, they've sped up combat in multiplayer games. Let's hope they did a good job speeding up the seemingly neverending air combat.

Battles in single player where I don't have a retreat option, I don't need to see the animation.

The animations do eat up a bunch of time. I often think I could run all my attacks on a city in the time it takes to watch one battle. I don't know that I want them to go away but some compromise would not be amiss.

I suspect though that the animations are tied to the battle resolution calculation and the game can't resolve battles without the animations.

If the next patch fixes the part where overrun units run up against a wall and I have to watch the 'battle' anyway it would certainly make me happy.

This option could be server dependent. If they have the DLC, you need it. If they have the animation off, it is so turned off on your side when playing online. But I totaly agree on turning off the space ship parts animation. I could care less that the enemy civ is making the space ship parts I am working on something else. But definetly turn off the advisors option is needed. I hate when they are standing in the way of how many units I have in a city, so I have not select a build order to see what's is there.

I'd second an advisor's off option. I see no purpose at all for these things and they have so many negatives the most annoying are blocking the screen and useful information thereby wasting my time waiting for them to move the F outta the way, and then there is the delay while they are loading, holding the game up for worthless eye candy. And you can forget about calling it eye candy for the domestic advisor, eye puke?

well as far as the ss parts launching, if you press B on the 360 it skips to the actual space scene, and press b again and it shows you the report.
