Bioshock locks up at load screens in full screen mode
Hello. I've searched through the forums and haven't been able to find anyone who's had the same problem as me. I just got Bioshock for PC (retail box) a couple days ago, and installed it yesterday without any problems. But when I started a new game, it locked up just as the load screen began to fade in, so it was barely visible. This happened every time I start a new game, locks up at the load screen. Then playing with it this morning, I loaded the game up from Vista's game folder and for some reason it started up in a reduced size screen (without a window around it) and I just left it that way. When I tried starting the game up like that, it worked just fine. So once I had control over the game, I put it into full screen mode, and as soon as I got to the load screen after I got into the elevator, the game locked up again. After some more playing around with it, I've discovered that I can play the game fine in various resolutions, as long as it's not in full screen when it needs to go to a load screen. Otherwise, if the game is in full screen mode, it'll lock up at any and every load screen. Here's my system specs (if you need them more detailed than this, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with):
64 bit Vista Home Premium
3.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo
4 Gig Memory
evga 8800 GTX
SB Audigy
I've tried installing the newest drivers for my GPU (after uninstalling the old ones), installing the newest Direct X 10 drivers, checked the sound card drivers, and tried disabling User Account Control, all to no avail.
I'm also having a similar problem with Bioshock that I'm having with Call of Duty 4, in that the framerate is fine, yet the game looks jerky, especially when moving and looking around at the same time. So any ideas on that would also be appreciated. Thanks.

For a bit more clarification on the problem, I've found that I can even run the game in 1680 x 1050 without any hitches as long as I keep it in the windowed view mode. If I take it to full screen, it'll lock up at any load screen. I'd really like to get this problem taken care, as the window view messes with my immersion.
As for the jerky gameplay, using an xbox 360 control takes care of that. So its like the smooth mouse feature doesn't do what it's supposed to do in both Bioshock and Call of Duty 4. Or at least not nearly as well as it's supposed to do it.

If you have a USB keyboard/mouse you can try to go into Vista's Keyboard control panel applet and setting the key repeat rate all the way to the left (longest). This same situation (jerky framerates) occurred for me when I was using a USB keyboard and this setting resolved it.

Yeah, I DID just get a new Razer Lycosa keyboard, and I've been using the DeathAdder ever since I got the computer. I havent had any problems with the games I already had on installed on my computer before I got the keyboard though (Orange Box, Crysis, Doom3, Quake 4). But I'll definately give that a try. Thanks for the tip.
Any ideas about the load screen lock ups?
