It's not possible for two people to play on one console I'm afraid![]()
I think OP means the LAN option
I don't know much about the PS3 but why would you want to play a game like this with 2 people on the same console/tv? I would think having the other person watching exactly what you were doing would take most of the fun out of the game.
Hotseat playing was always an option on the computer versions of the game. Players were expected to not look at the screen while someone else was playing. Player 1 would play his turn and hit the end-of-turn button. The map would go away and a dialog box would come up announcing it was now Player 2's turn to play. The game would proceed with the humans taking turns sitting at the computer.
It would have been simple to implement in the console version, but it looks like they felt it wouldn't work as well with a TV. I think they should have thrown it in anyway and let the users decide depending on their set-up, but i'm not a game designer.

Thanks for clearing that up "Hotseat play" was not a terminology I was aware of. I don't think it would be my cup of tea (maybe pre broadband it would of been good) but each to their own.
can you system link on the xbox?
I think so, haven't tried it but there is a system link option in the menu.
Hey, it's still faster than play-by-email. I don't remember if it's in Civ IV, but some of the games have had the option of playing your turn and then automatically emailing the game save to the next player. Now, THAT is a pre-broadband approach.
And no, I'm not asking for it in Civ Rev.
BTW, hotseat play probably worked best when playing a game against one or more roommates over several days or weeks. On a PC, you could leave Civ running in a window, maximize it when playing your turn, and move it out of the way when doing something else. It's true it would have been awkward for most people, on a console.
