Thread: upgrading units

    upgrading units

    lo there,

is there a way to upgrade units beside building the leonardos workshop wonder? rebuilding your defenses and selling the obsolete units each time a new defense class is discovered gets tedious after a while...

I don't want to change the amount of experience the units have but their type. e.g. upgrade archers to mobile infantry...

    cheers

No, there's no ability to update or rearm your old units. If you're Germany it happens automatically for your elite units but all other nations have to rely on Leonardo's Workshop.

It is quite annoying but just one of those things we'll have to get used to. You've got to time the construction of Leonardo's Workshop just right or you'll end up upgrading you ancient units to industrial units which are then pretty much obsolete in the modern era.

thanks for explaining, but that really is annoying. I was playing as germans yesterday and I'm pretty sure I had elite (I'm assuming units above veteran (lightning, etc) are elites) knights stacked with tanks. but maybe I'm mixing things up.

    cheers

I actually like that feature, rather than all units updating at once..

I did wonder if it would be better if you could return units to a city for 'retraining' to upgrade them rather than having to replace them, or simply having them magically upgrade... it could be dependant on having a certain building type in the city or capital city only?

It does get a bit strange when you have cruisers and tanks roaming the world and blokes with swords defending your capital.

    how do you sell units?
i didnt know it was possible...
what do you get from doing it?

  8. You sell by pressing L3/R3 (can't remember which) whilst the unit is active. You get money in return (not much)

Click the right stick. Same as on the PS3, but they enjoy calling that R3 for some reason.

  11. ...Because that is what it's called... it's like "R1, R2" you know the names of the triggers on the right hand side

Clicking the right analogue stick on the PS3 is OFFICIALLY called pressing the R3 button

And it may be the L3 that you have to press. I remember that R3 also brings you to the active unit if you scroll away from it by using the left or right analogue stick.
