Thread: Brainstorm additional techs and units for Civ Rev 2!

Civ Rev 2 - additional units and tech, brainstorm your ideas here!

I was thinking about what I wanted in Civ Rev 2, and in addition to Split Screen Multiplayer support,

I really want to see a lot more available modern and future techs to research and units to build...

Here are the modern techs I could brainstorm...

String Theory, Nuclear Fusion, Cloning, Genetic Engineering, Lasers, Missile Defense Project, GPS/Satellites (gives you whole map), Internet

If I thought about it, I could probably think up a lot more great techs and more awesome features for Civ Rev 2 based on the following games...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_of_Orion

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_...tle_at_Antares

The modern wonders I could brainstorm... The Hadron Collider, the Hubble Space Telescope, The Space Station, The Moon Colony.

The only modern unit I came up with were Mechs, but I wasn't thinking very hard.

I would also introduce alien civilizations that you only encounter when you explore other planets. The game doesn't end in a tech victory with a space shuttle, it instead turns into a game similar to Sid Mieirs Alpha Centuari with you exploring differnt planets.

I also would love to see...

Split screen multiplayer so we can share the game with our families.

Bring back Civics because inventing your own form of religion/government/society >>> preset governments.

Decreased micromanagement of units, at the very least, having an autoexplore option would be awesome. But it would be perfect if you could just tell your military advisor to attack a city in so many turns, and he will take care of moving all your nonfortified military units, clumping them all together, forming them into armies, and arriving all of them at the city together, then first attacking them with a spy, then other units.

The option to have bigger maps, and more players per map, and specify, land only (no sea etc).

A map maker would be awesome.

Honestly for now Civilization Revolutions is very close to my dream civilization game.

It's the perfect balance between not having too much micromanagement and having strategy/options and is the perfect entry of the franchise to consoles, but it the sequel will need more.

So brainstorm here all the future techs, future wonders, and future units you would love to see...

Doesn't Space Flight give you the world map already? It makes sense because you'd need that in order to put up the satellites for GPS.

What would Cloning give you? The ability to duplicate a Great Person? It's such a controversial topic that I wonder if he'd be comfortable with the idea of making it a benefit.

Nanotechnology would be good, but I think we could have more pre-futuristic technologies too.

There should be some kind of medical advance. I can't really think of anything general enough other than "Modern Medicine" or something like that. It would help heal units better/faster, and possibly help a little with sustaining population.

I once saw a thing on the history channel and it said the US military has these planes that fire a strong laser beam from the front nose that will blow up missiles/metorites/etc. How about units like that?

mine is more of a simple request.....i miss helicopters. Not sure why, but i loved using them in past civ games.

i also miss the naval side of the game, but i understand why it is not such a big part of this version of Civ.

I don't think anyone knows that other than 2K and (most likely) Firaxis.
It isn't confirmed (as far as I know) and these are mostly assumptions.

I'd just be happy if the fixed the silly battle resolution of pike men taking out bombers, ect.

The bombers should be used for taking out infastrucutre not enemy combatants. Bombers such as those described in the game are more strategic than tactical. Yet they never have any effect on a city's banks, factories, wonders or any of the buildings.

Also allow more than one ICBM in the game. With that allow those who have them a menu by which they extort stuff from the civs that have none or no defense against them.

But you have some good ideas for additional techs and wonders.

I just hope that they come out with Civ Rev 2. They did a damn good job with the 1st (yes every game has it's problems, those would presumably be fixed).

JUST DON'T LET CIV REV SLIP INTO LIMBO!!!

Top 5 game this generation, and the BEST strat. game ever on a console...period!!!
