Game Crash - Monitor Switches Off

    Hi,

I'm just posting up to see if there was any problems have accoured and maybe has been a fix.

Every so often, I'm in the middle of a game, and then next minute my monitor switches off and says No Signal Output.

    I'm running a
    E6400 @ 2.2
    8800GT
    Win XP

I'm also running the game at 1680x1050 maxed settings.

I know there has been problems with Widescreen resolutions, so I'm guessing this could be the problem?

    Many Thanks.

Does your computer shut down as well? If it does then it could be a heat issue i.e. fans/heatsinks clogged with dust and the computer is shutting down to protect the components from being fried by the heat. If the computer doesn't shut down it could also be the graphics card itself overheating and again shutting down to protect the component. To find out for sure, with the computer off, open the case and look at all the heatsinks you can find to see if they have excessive dust/dirt build-up.

I don't think it's overheating issue, but I'm going to monitor it.

I've only had this card for 2 days, so there isn't no dust or anything. I'm running the fans at 60%.

I will keep check of the temps,

How consistently does it happen? If it happens pretty well everytime then you can set your fans to 100% and sit down for a marathon session. The card is new so its not clogged, how was the CPU heatsink?

If it isn't overheating issue, then I suspect it is the power supply. As you've mentioned it is a newly installed card, either the PSU can't provide stable power to the card when under high load, or it has shown its age.

Good call JimmySuit! Googling told me these minimums: 400W and 22 Amperes on the +12V rail(s).
