Pros and Cons of each version!

    Xbox 360:

    Pros:
    • Bigger screen in most cases
True Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound
      Achievments

    Cons:
    • Not Full DirectX 10
Lots of people prefer mouse and keyboard for FPS
      More expensive to buy

    PC

    Pros:
    • Better Graphics with DX10
      Mouse and Keyboard
      Cheaper to buy

    Cons:
    • No Achievments
      Smaller Screen in Most cases
      No Dolby Digital

I still can't descide what version to buy because my PC is good enough to play Bioshock at Very high settings, and I have a 360 on my 26" Samsung. ITS A PAIN LOL

Thats my setup, but sadly using the computer means sitting on the floor and using the coffee table as a desk... my bum is sore and the floors are tile (+rug) and this is most uncomfortable in winter
    I'm taking the 360 version

    Adding to list:
    360 pros:
    - force feedback
    - easier to switch between powers/weapons etc due to placing of button comparitive to stretching for keyboard buttons (very arguable point I think )
    - easier patching and no installing so no chance of "compatibility issues"

    cons:
    - more chance of red ring of death on your console than there is of "compatibility issues" with your computer

I asked this in my first post a long time ago but I'll ask again, does anyone know if Bioshock using all 3 cores of the 360 does something special? Like better water effects or physics or something?

It's probably about like speed holes- it makes it go faster.

I was replying to Shoitaan about BioShock using the 3 cores of the Xbox 360's processor by using a simpson reference to imply that it probably makes the game run faster and smoother than if it just used one core.

not true really, if you have a full compliment of plasmids and weapons with the X360 you have to spend precious time cycling through them to get the one you need (and if you accidentally press the cycle again or too far you risk precious time in fire-fights) where with the PC you have better Key-mapping and can access your plasmids faster (depending on the set-up)

Like I said, it was an arguable point
I don't know about bioshock (obviously) but in other shooter games I found the accessability of buttons for grenades (especially grenades!), reloads, dodging, weapon switching superior to that of PC. But of course, the games that sprang to mind as I wrote that didn't have the.. "extended" arsenal thats available in Bioshock. We'll have to see how that pans out

I never saw any kind of D-Pad weapon swap-wheel in the demo. It does always seem to be switching until you get the right one.

I can't help you with your decision. I'm getting the 360 version because my computer is only 1 Ghz and I'm in love with HDTV. Plus, I know at least 3 or 4 people that want to come watch me play it when I get it. Luckily my living room has many chairs.

Well, 3 cores (in some cases) 1 core takes care of 1 task in particulaire...so (exemple, im most proberbly completely wrong)
    1 core for water effects(PWNAGE)
    1 core for various other visuals(prettyness )
1 core of physics and mathematical equations(AI)

again, i could be completely wrong...but lets say your in a fire fight, only 1 core will be understress and the others can assist it...but with 1 or 2 cores...if 1 is understress, its either
    1. screwed
    2.barely helped

so id go with xbox and its triple core pwnage! And anyways...big ass HDTV...whats not to like?(except controllers...they should make a keyboard and mouse adapter for xbox!)

You can't directly compare console CPUs to PC ones. They run processes a lot differently. It isn't so much as 1 core does this and one core does that on the 360. Its one core does everything and the second helps out. The third is specially programmed for use with the Blade OS. So it is basically a dual-core CPU. The PS3's cell can be programmed to assign specific tasks to specific SPEs, mostly because they are not real cores.

On PCs games and programs are threaded (thats the technical term) to use the cores at the same time. They split the tasks up into however many parts as there are cores.

The technical terms for how this works is in-order processing (360, Cell, and Wii) and out-of-order processing (PCs). I could be getting those backwards, but I don't think so.

Just wanted to mention that the latest article on Cult of Rapture confirms that the PC version can use the 360 controller, and it supports feedback.

Oh that's interesting, I have a wired pad just for my PC so that may be something to consider.

One of the 360's cores is a dedicated physics processor.

Am I the only person who preferes a controllers to a keyboard/mouse while playing an FPS. WHile I find the menus harder to navigate I like the movement better.

No, all 3 are generic cores that can be used for any function. The 360 does not have any kind of dedicated physics processor whatsoever.

Damn no edit function. Now if you meant "one of the cores has been dedicated to physics processing", then maybe you're on to something. But your wording was ambiguous.

Xbox version is cheaper in the long run because you never have to upgrade your xbox, and the graphics on xbox are always very good as opposed to a PC which is variable.

I thought that was only a keyboard and only for MMORPGs

No you can plug in a USN keyboard into your 360 right now and use it for chatting/typing messages and names and profile names/mmo chatting. The attachment he's talking about was soemthing some korean company (I think) came up with. It allowed you to use a kd+mouse for fps's. I heard it wasn't that sensitive or something, there were some issues with it but I can't remember specifics. It was also a bit pricy so it didn't take off well.

I think a keyboard and mouse might not work so well for a 360 in Bioshock. Seeing as the interfaces are designed specifically for each system.

Not only that, but the game doesn't even support them in the first place, making the point rather moot. I'm not even sure if UT (which supports KB + M on the PS3) will even have support for them on the 360 and that is one game that demands KB+M support.

I know it's late but I just had to make that point. Sorry if someone else already did. And on PC you might be able to make and download mods too.

sadly, my computer isnt good enough to probably play this game as well as it could on the 360, otherwise I probably would have got it on both systems lol. I have always preferred the mouse and keyboard setup when it comes to fpss, but Im sure I will get use to the controller setup.

You work for 2K, don't you?

If your PC can run it well, webbo, get the PC version. The mouse beats the controller for FPS, you can download savegames if you get stuck, and there's a whole lot of modding possibilities.

    booya.

i never got into the modding craze when i actually had a PC that was decent, but still i envy those who will inevitably get their hands on a version modded to stick it to the ESRB.
