Why is there no Assyrian & Babylonian Civilizations

Why is there no Assyrian and babylonian Civilzations included in this game?
They were called "the cradle of civilization" by many scholars

    Assyrian/babylonian empire invented the following:

    *Battering rams
    *Laws
    *dividing the circle into 360
    *longitude and latitude
    *Hanging Gardens of Babylon
    *the first ever libary
    *the first ever lense telescope
    *locks and keys

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assyria
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylonia

Assyrians were also known as the "masters of war" and took over the 'Known world' at one stage, they are mentioned many times in the bible.

What i dont get is why were they not included in this game?

I think if Firaxis spent time adding in every lil extra detail it'd be months and months more of waiting til we got the game. What they're basically doing is giving us a really good game, with alot of nice features and great multiplayer and replay value, which is gonna be well worth our dollar.

The sooner they get the game out the sooner everyone can start enjoying and evaluating further. Thanks to XBOX marketplace they can add in anything they want later.

Oh no the vikings are not in the game. I feel so discriminated and I feel that they are hating the nordic culture. Pause.... nooot.

Seriously, give them a break and stop with the bull**** about disciminating stuff. They are making a game, they are not racist or haters vs certain civilizations or areas. They are just trying to make a game with fun civilizations to play. You can be irritated that you can't play the civs you want but claiming that there is some conspiracy behind all of it is just ridiculous.

the babylonians did that(as did the Mayans, for that matter)

but we've had enough of arguing about civs that should be in CivRev...its set in stone now, just wait for some DLC to add new civs.

  12. Let's just put it this way...

They CANNOT have EVERY SINGLE civilization in the game, and so they have to pick a couple out of the MANY, and that inevitably means that some civilizations wont appear in the game. With 16 to pick from (and 16 is a VERY LARGE number, considering there's a maximum 5 civs per map), they've added a lot of civs as it is, and any civ that they didn't add, is just because they couldn't unless you'd want them to spend another year or so creating the graphics, creating the specials, the text, and oh soo much that goes into creating a new civilization. chances are that they can add to the game by releasing a Patch/Add-On, so lets just hope that they eventually add some 'Civilization' Patches.

I think it was the babylonians , anyway there all Mesopotamian (Assyrian,Akkadian,Sumerian,Babylonian) im suprised not even one of them made it to the final game.

I was looking up Sumerian history and it says It was the first civilization in the world.

I think what they did was pick the Civs that had to be in the game. No offense meant by this, but I don't think people are gonna play the game and be like, how can you call it Civilization without Babylonia!?!?! Now say if they didn't have America, Russia, China, Japan, then people might raise an eyebrow. They wanted to include the big super powers of history. I think they've done that, and they can always put new civs in via DLC.

Thats what i thought aswell, maybe they would of put Assyria in it if there was still an Assyrian empire, but that fell ages ago (it was one of the ancient world's super power), but theres still assyrians left today, about 3-4 million.

Yes there are Assyrians in modern Iraq and they are persecuted by Iraqi insurgents, its very bad that the elements which remain of Ancient World disapear one ofter other one Like Bamiyan Statues in Afghanistan.
Or the olds Lhassa or Beijing which are victims of moderns buildings...

Go check the iran topic. You'll see: not all civs could be added, choices had to be made. So go read at least all first page topics before you start posting the exact same BS.... AGAIN!

is this the thread where we complain that the game was delayed because Jason2K wanted to make the maps smaller and take out the split screen?

Nope, this is the topic where we all agree that the game needs to be delayed because the barbarians need to be renamed to "The awesome and fearful Belgians"

    hey guys,

we do have a thread about civs not in the game here: http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17464

if you want, i can lock both of these threads and create a place to talk about all civs not in Civilization Revolution, but for now, let's try and keep it in one place, which is the first created!
