Game Of The Week influences?

I was wondering if the GOTW maps will be influenced by something or if you are just going random, or if you design something specific.

I had an idea which I believe in and that is that you can create maps that are related to recent happenings in the news or celebrating something that happened that week in a previous year.

Wish I could answer your question with certainty, unfortunately I can't .
But if I think about it, I don't think the developers will let them inspire by recent activities. I think that even if they let themselves be inspired by something, it would be by some of the greatest historic moments history has to offer.
But then again, I really wouldn't know
