Multiplayer gameplay

Hello everyone,

My friend and I are thinking about purchasing a Playstation 3 and Civ revolution. I do have a question though. How does the multiplayer mode work?
Do both players play their turn simultaneously or does one player wait his turn while the other makes his move?

I expect it will be the latter of the two otherwise I can't see how conflict would work.
