Well I'm looking at close to $500 ($460) for 2x XFX 9600GT xXx 512mb....and will need a new case, as well as PSU so $600-700 altogether. lawlll......not bad haha
-
That's not bad at all
I'm still trying to decide what I want to do for my next build. I'm running a C2D E6750 overclocked at 3.5GHz, 4GB of DDR2 1066, a 9800 GX2 with a Vista 64bit Ultimate/Windows Media Center dual boot setup. ATM, I'm using a 28" Samsung HDMI LCD with max res of 1920x1200 but I may go ahead and spring for a 30" 2560 x 1600 monitor this summer. ATI is going to have some kickass cards coming out and I'm kinda waiting to see what develops there with the R770s

9800 GX2, good choice lol hahaha. nVidia is also coming out with the 9900s like 2 months after the release of the R770s?
By the way, nice rig, I'm lucky to have what I have with the income I get haha.
p.s Definitely go for the 30", the bigger the better, simple as that.

Yeah, there should be a 9900GTX and a 9900GT (both GT200 based.) The 9900GTX is said to outperform the dual gpu 9800GX2 and the 9900GT will outperform the 9800GTX. The HD4870 (R770) also bests the 9800GX2 as well though by a healthy margin in early tests.
And yeah BIGGER is BETTER when it comes to monitor size

Damn, I really should wait till the end of the year or something, before buying anything atm, cos GPUs are tricky little things. However perhaps it's time to move on to ATi, cos they are always bang for buck IMO.
So 30" it is? haha
-
Heh, even though they are the underdogs at the moment, I've always really liked AMD and ATI (DAAMIT lol) and I think AMD's purchase of ATI is going to pay off well in the near future. AMD needs their next processor line to be a HUGE winner though or they will be in even more serious trouble.
And yeah, I'll most likely make the move to 30". I've had several customers go with the 30" Dells for custom pcs I've built for them and the 2560 x 1600 resolution really is something to behold

Come through AMD dammit, I saw their benchmarks for their Quads, and I was not impressed at all, real disappointing. On that note, I have this bad image of ATi and me hating eachother cos of their drivers haha, even though it won't happen, I am recuctant.
I bet, cos I only have 22", and when I bought it, the whole neighbourhood was like, "Damn that's huge," and I'm like "Impressive isn't it?...Oh you're talking about the monitor, yeah it's good" How are you finding the GX2, and 28"? Can you run everything with ease?
-
Yeah the 9800GX2 runs everything maxed out easily in 1920x1200 (except for Crysis of course LOL.) But I didn't like Crysis anyway so I never bothered to play all the way through it. I averaged about 31fps in 1920x1200 with settings on high but with no AA.
-
Nice nice, Crysis is for N.A.S.A so I don't even bother a bit with it...lol
-
Yeah lol, I saw that article too on NASA running Crysis
-
:P Legendary. I don't see a point in Crysis.
