Do you think Mafia II will win the award 'Game of the Year'? Also it's possible to score 10/10 on previews/reviews,... as GTA IV did?
I think it will, especially if it's launched in 2009, so different year than GTA IV. If it's launched in 2008 I think it will lose the title but a 10 it's still possible. I will be very disappointed if it will not happen!

I think MAFIA will be one of the best but i think the score will be 9.8/10.

I am not sure about either, I doubt it will have the same reviews as GTA IV because of the hype and expectations building all up around it.
I have not played GTA IV but just by looking on gameplay videos and screens I would deduct at least a point for the graphics alone. I believe alot of reviewers have given it a full pot because it is "expected".
Mafia 2 I believe will be much more popular then the original and have a much wider audience, but I feel that once again some people will compare it in a negative way to GTA (though we know they are wrong).
true, am sure many reviewers wouldn't dare not give it top marks for graphics, considering the scale of the game they're very good but compared to COD4, not even closeI believe alot of reviewers have given it a full pot because it is "expected".
Mafia 2 wont get 10's, like Mafia 1 a lot of reviewers just wont get it....
I like GTA too but MAFIA has got a special place in my heart. For me MAFIA is 100/10. Everyone loves GTA IV but it's not about score dude, i don't care about gamespot or ign or the other game sites. Maybe they won't give 10/10 to MAFIA 2 but we know MAFIA is better than GTA.

i voted NO (but i do think it has a chance if it comes out in 2009 cause if it's out in 2008 you can pretty much guarantee GTA4 will take all the praise) .... cause even though i KNOW it will be great and im SURE ill like it better than GTA4 (which i like quite a bit overall), as far as the mainstream wise... it just will not be as popular as GTA4 is
overall i predict MAFIA 2 getting a high score probably low 9's but wont sell super great (cause it's sorta like MP3 players for example... even if there stuff better than IPOD's (which there pretty much is), they will always get the most praise on mainstream level cause they did it first and at the right time etc)
cause someone correct me if im wrong... but i dont think original MAFIA sold that well and even though it got general praise in reviews it seemed like one of those games that went under the radar... plus the way the game is i dont think it will gain mass praise from the public ... me personally i think characters/story/gameplay and FOR SURE weapons feel is quite a bit better in MAFIA than it is in GTA in general.... but then again im a big mob movie fan which i think MAFIA 1 did exceptionally well.
cause for me personally i replayed MAFIA (on PC) quite a few times already (probably 5+ since i got it back in 2002 ish) and even though i beat all the GTA's i never replayed those at all since i beat em 1 time.... so for me the clear winner in the long run is MAFIA.
Mafia will be a game to own when it comes out, simple as that, and even though games like GTA IV have their name firmly concreted in the industry, Mafia will soon have it's own block, right next to it.
I hope so, it really deserve it although so far we've played only 1 Mafia game!

GTA IV is massively hyped, and overrated, but it has a longer running legacy in total than Mafia does, and the more "common" gamers have'nt ever heard of it.
If GTA's pc release comes in the same year as Mafia 2 they will get alot of competition for GOTY-awards, and might get one from the odd PC magazines. But generally it will be viewed as a GTA clone (Truth be damned) and most people won't rate it above 8 and place GTA on the throne.
Mostly I agree with you, but things can change. Most members voted in "Mafia II release date" thread that the game will be released in 2009, so if it's indeed launched in 2009 it has pretty good chances to win 'Game of the Year' title and score 10/10. Then I think reviewers can give Mafia II 10/10 without taking anything from GTA IV and very probably it's 'Game of the Year' award because sellings will incline the balance in GTA IV's favour if both games score 10/10 in 2008.

I somewhat agree too, reason being that GTA got like 10/10 for almost every review, tough competition what can I say.
for me COD 4 is completely diferent and im still thinking and betting that mafia 2 wont have less than 9.8
Definitely not lower than 9 that's for sure.
I would say 10/10 as a mafia fan but i would not mind even if it gets a 9/10
but satisfy all the Mafia fans well...
Mafia 2 will definately be better than GTA4.

I honestly don't know.
The game is looking impressive day by day and it's definitely safe to say that it will score higher than Mafia 1. I don't know why but I have this feeling when it comes to critics, it's almost as if they have a vendetta against the game because its a "GTA clone" even though the atmospheres of the two games are so different. I can just imagine points being deducted for bugs, or maybe target problem or auto-gen health or something nitpicky like that.
I don't really have any facts to support my feeling of course, but it's just this gut feeling I have. Of course, I hope it becomes game of the year, scoring big--at least 9.8/10
I think that Mafia 2, will score big, and the critics will love it TBH. The gameplay, detail and everything in it, looks amazing.
all the littles details that have mafia 2 is enough to put it a great score
i rented the first mafia and never really got into it (just because i was randomly killing people
and also, Gears of War 2 is coming out november 2nd i think of this year and that could very well also win game of the year
Shure it will be the game of the year. Besides the awsome graphics I bet it as a great storyline and caracters like the first game.
I don't understand, why GTA IV was 10 of 10 it's not the last game in the world but 10 of 10 are highest score that game have ever had and none game are perfect.But I think that Mafia II will take a very good place in "Action Adventure" genre and in my opinion the 1st.

An i cant say it will be "game of the year" ofc..10 nice pics dosent make it the best.
The game industry is kinda shallow atm..so we'll never know till we get the final product.
