Thread: Dlc

    Dlc

What DLCs do you want, or think will go well with Bioshock?

Some games are better suited for DLCs (like Oblivion or Mass Effect), and I think (if done correctly) Bioshock could have some quality DLCs

Perhaps new plasmids, or new mods for your weapons

    Post here with your ideas

i think DLC's are real rip-offs if they cost something... i hate the "addons" Oblivion got famous with... so if there is going to be an editor, there will be new content in zero time, i'm sure

I think, he's talking primary about the XBox360 version, where the option of modding/mapping isn't available.

Haven't we got this thread already?

Well, I think additional skins for old enemies or completely new enemies. It would be also great to get keys to open areas, which were previously closed.

I guess if all they cost is accomplishment points it could add a little extra to the game, although I guess there's always the risk that it might skew the whole dynamic.

Maybe a new weapon or so, but I would really like some themes/gamerpics. I have never bought any but if you guys released some of that kickass art I would be the first to download,

As I've said before, for right now I'd like to see a downloadable Xbox360 theme like they did for "the Darkness."

As for after the game's release, it might be cool to see new plasmids perhaps new unlockable areas? Not a huge deal if they decided to not include DLC.

Yeah, not a big deal for the in game DC, I still haven't gotten around to downloading anything for Oblivion even though I've wanted to try that Knights of the Nine.

Better yet, I'd like to see a theme included with the game!

I don't cotton to this newfangled business of connecting a console to the Internet. It seems to give at least a few developers the idea that the release version is just a playable beta whose bugs can be fixed later.

Most games have always released with bugs and glitches, we used to call them "cheats" and "exploits", ever since the implementation of services like x-box live where patches can easily be distributed though, they've gone back to being bugs, and developers have gotten into the habit of polishing their work even further after release, I like it a lot.

That being said I'd like to see new missions, perhaps new areas for rapture (maybe something further underground, undiscovered?) new weapons and maybe even new monster types implemented through DLC over live eventually, it just adds to the replay value of a game and helps to keep a potential market thinking about your game while you develop the sequel, beyond that DLC is a great way to sort-of beta minor things you're considering including in a sequel.

Dont want there to be any, just put whatever they can on the game by release and leave it at that

As someone on the console versions of most games, I personally think that downloadable content should be added. For oblivion, the Shivering Isles was just amazing in my opinion, as it added something new to the gameplay which was getting pretty old pretty fast. (Same enemies, same weapons....just getting boring.) For BioShock, I suppose they could add new weapons, plasmids, and such. Over time, new "sections" could be added to the game. Just my opinion.

yeah i don't like the whole XBL marketplace deal with addon's to games anyways i understand charging for movie retals and those arcade game sometimes, and MAYBE the televisions shows if they were a bit cheaper, but things like those avatars and pics should be free and if you paid the original cost for a game you should get everything it includes so i love dlc but only add ons but only free, even if you had to have a gold membership to get it for free i would understand but i wouldn't prefer that either.

Hmm, I wouldnt want anything that would mess with the balancing of the game. However, things like new Skin packs, and new effects could actually help update the game over time.
Think about it: Most games lose their luster once newer and prettier games come along. What if you created a game that continually looked better for a nominal fee? 3 bucks for the latest effects? Count me in! New shader pack upgrade! New models!
yes, it could get rediculous. But the game could stay current for years to come if they adopted this idea. And they would make a little money off it, for seamingly small upgrades.
If you want to get real rediculous, there could be crazy alternate skin packs. How would you like to be struggling to survive, only to be attacked by Santa clause? The easter bunny? A leprachaun?
Sure these are the things youd see for free on PC in the mod community, but sucka's will still pay for it on consoles.
You would just need a loader to load the extra features into the game, and allow users to select what they want.

These ideas are borderline dangerous and insane, but could be an interesting DLC solution.

I really hope there is no DLC for this game, Microtransactions are a sad way of squeezing even more money from fans. Throw us a real expansion pack, fine, but don't go the oblivion route.

DLC is (in my opinion) one of the best thing to happen to consoles, official content that can majorly extend the life of games. Like Oblivion when you reached a high level and had little to do you could buy incredible addons to the game that can keep you playing for dozens more hours. Bioshock is the perfect enviroment for DLC, dispite being an enclosed enviroment, it is still a place of a lot of mystery and new weapons and plasmids to hunt for could add for atleast a couple more plays through.

You all know where I stand on this. A Downloadable Multiplayer component with a handful of maps would be perfectly reasonable in my mind Maybe a few extra achievements would be nice too.

I would like to see more areas to vist as DLC, but not to interfere with the story of course .

I'd really prefer if Bioshock was not the type of game that required DLCs.

    Wasn't this already a topic?
