Do you think it is necessary to pre-order?

I am going to get the game as soon as it's released but I was wondering if the demand will be so high that it will be hard to obtain a copy. What do you guys think?

    Thanks.

If you want the limited edition it would probably be a good idea to pre-order. Otherwise, I'm not too sure.

I think that if it's a hot or hgihly anticipated title, then yes, it is necessary to pre-order.

I don't think it is necessary, but I already preordered my limited edition because I don't wanna take any chances.

Depends on the odds of selling out on day one and, and how important it is to you to play the game as soon as it's released. They can always produce more copies.

For the LE, Preordering would be a good idea, they don't call it 'Limited' for nothing.

    Very true.
I pre-ordered mine, mostly to support Irrational, and to pay it off, so it's a quick walk-in, walk-out experience.

I pre-ordered, I mean why not? The $5 goes towards your game anyway.

I think it's a good idea to preorder, because that will make gamestop/eb order more in order to fill preorders and a little extra, instead of just the little extra. That means more copies sold for Irrational, which means more reason for them to make sequels

  13. #13
It depends on how anticipated the game is and if you are buying the limited edition.

Like most have said, for the Limited Edition I definitely would. For the regular, doesn't really matter. Will be around in stores for a while, so I wouldn't worry too much. but if you want to play on the 21st I would either pre-order or get to the store early . I already have my Limited Edition paid off and will most likely be getting the regular edition also when I go to pick up my Limited. Don't ask me why, but with Bioshock it just feels right owning both versions. Besides, it will help with sales and if my Limited disc ever gets ruined, I'll have my regular version to fall back on

This is the first LE I've preordered since Prey, before that I can't remember the last LE I've preordered. But picking up two copies?? I dunno about that.

Why do I keep saying Irration, instead of Irrational?

I have to correct myself from doing that all the time... I think it is mind control!

Yes, I pre-ordered the LE because they SHOULD sell like hotcakes.

Pre-ordering for the most part I think is pretty pointless. But, I like knowing that all I have to do is show up early and pick it up.

    Indeed!
And like I and others said, it will help 2K games see what kinda game they have on their hands, and hopefully ask for another from Irrational one day.

I pre-ordered the game, but only because of the Limited Edition. If there was no LE, I just would have bought it in the store after Bioshock was released. The LE really will be limited, so I want to guarantee that I get a copy.

This is the only game I've ever pre-ordered, and I also did it to help show support for Irrational. That games like Bioshock deserve to be a success, and we need more deep, involving games like it.

And at these gamestops, can you get these LE without having to get them online? I mean can you get them at thier stores?

I don't know how it works with PC games, but most stores make you preorder now if you want to play it on release day. It basically guarantees you get a copy when it launches. For the 360 version, the EB/Gamestops that are getting the limited edition in some cases aren't even aware they are getting them. 3 out of the 4 in NYC that I went into had no idea.

As everyone else has said, with the LE, it's a good idea to get your preorder in, just in case.

I agree that if you want a LE you have to preorder

Yea, When you pre-order, it gives them an insight on how many they will need, especially the Limited edtion version. The standard may be overstocked, but they probably won't be overstocked at all with the limited edtion, depending on the rate people are pre-ordering it.

But Standard or limited, Pre-ordering guarantees you a copy of the game, and probably on the day it comes out. I say this, because really popular games may not have all the copies they need. Like with Halo 3, they'll probably not have enough for the first day, or they may.( "they is in the sense of EBgames/gamestop )

I've pre-ordered and paid for the collectors edition just today. I pre-ordered because where I got it I'll get a free t-shirt with it. Now I'll have a t-shirt for Oblivion and Bioshock! Yay!
