I wonder if the game sells well on both systems if cross platform is somthing that can be done down the line.
I'm and Xbox gamer so I'm hoping it does well on xbox, I just prefer the controller and Live.
But for those on PS3 who prefer that, that's cool too.
Being that the control layout is identical on both platforms, this just seems like an easy one to go cross platform.
I guess a game would have to have independent servers for both MS and Sony to run together.

I doubt msft will open up live for cross-platform gaming (unless it is a "made for windows" PC game) They have also said Sony will regret allowing user created content distributed via their network so that probably also won't happen w/ live anytime soon.

I'd go with the XBL myself.
I dunno, no online gaming feature is as important to me as player-base. Having twice the number of players to play against is a very appealing situation.

Are you kidding me ? How did this thread for PS3 users to post their PSN tags turn into a pride parade for tardbox users. I have been pretty nice, but this is intolerable. Several of you tardbox lamers have come in here talking up the xbl service and the crappy tardbox. It's B.S. !! Also, it's quite clear that 2k has a preference for the tardbox, by their refusal to post any PS3 screen shots, and giving the tardbox extra features like video/voice chat. And to top it off, one of them comes in here to rag on PS3 online calling it "crappy". No the only thing crappy is the tardbox. PS3 users have blu-ray, tardboxxers have a crappy $300 hd-dvd drive that's worth nothing now. PS3s online service is free. The PS3 is much more powerful and technologically advanced than the tardbox. I could go on and on, but I don't want to make anyone cry. In the end PS3 users will have the last laugh. And I am pretty satisfied knowing that.
haha, thats funny because xbox live is like much much much better then psn, playstation network? give me a break, and wow, ps3 comes with a blue-ray, woopdie-****ing do, and thats funny because the game of the year (bioshock) was only on xbox 360 and pc. the ps3 costs like $100 or $200 dollars more and isn't worth it at all. to go with that ps3 has like no good games at all, games only for 360: halo 3, bioshock, saints row, crackdown, and even more good ones, btw i really dont want to argue about this, i have a 360 and have played ps3, i think the 360 is better but w/e
They are both good consoles imo and we can thank the competition for the advancement on both sides. Firaxis' lead platform w/ this project is Xbox 360 so it's fair to say their software favors that a bit. They are doing the whole thing in-house and they don't have a lot of console game development experience so it's understandable they would go that route imo. Future projects may be different.
As far as the online side, the philosophies of msft/sony are completely different. We are essentially looking at the early years of AOL/Compuserve vs the lower-cost straight dial-up ISPs. It's not a question of which model will win (even Live will eventually be free and open), but rather is it worth paying money in the interim. I personally don't think so (hence the reason I buy all multiplayer games on PS3) but I can understand how people would.
