Official BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution Information Thread and F.A.Q.

    Hello everyone!

Now that BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution has been officially announced, here’s a nice cheat sheet to address any questions that may come up.

    About The Game:
What is BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution?

BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution is a puzzle game in which you assume the role of a factory worker within the sky-city of Columbia. You complete increasingly difficult puzzles while learning more about the warring factions in the game and earning in-game rewards.

Who made BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution?

This game was developed by Lazy 8 Studios in close collaboration with Irrational Games. Check out more of their amazing work at www.lazy8studios.com.

Is it part of BioShock Infinite? Will it ever be offered for sale? Can I buy the in-game items or grab them in a later edition?

Industrial Revolution is not offered for sale as a standalone game, it is not part of BioShock Infinite, and we currently have no plans for its content to be used elsewhere.

Which retailers are participating in this pre-order promotion?

Steam for digital versions and the retailers listed on www.preordernow.com.

What happens if I already pre-ordered BioShock Infinite?

Please contact your retailer. They will happily cancel your existing pre-order, and replace it with a
new pre-order that includes a code for Industrial Revolution.

    What are the rewards exactly?

First of all, we hope you have a ton of fun playing! Here are the in-game rewards you get to unlock:

    • 3 Gear items: Handyman Nemesis, Sugar Rush, and Fleet Feet
    • In-Game cash
    • Learn about the city of Columbia and its factions through story chunks.
    • Facebook pack that pledges your allegiance for either the Vox Populi or the Founders

    Are there any additional rewards?

If you pre-order BioShock Infinite at GameStop, you’ll receive the Comstock China Broom Upgrade while pre-ordering at Best Buy will get you the Comstock Bird's Eye Upgrade.

I pre-ordered from GameStop and I didn't receive my code, what's the deal?

Gamestop will take approximately 1-2 days to send out codes after a pre-order is placed.

I pre-ordered from Steam and now it appears in my library - does this mean it's playable?

Pre-ordering BioShock Infinite will result in a cover/placeholder to show up in your library, not the actual game. The game will NOT be playable until the release date.

    Code Redemption:
TO REDEEM YOUR CODE, YOU'LL NEED A COMPUTER AND INTERNET ACCESS. THAT'S IT!
    1: Go to www.FinkManufacturing.com
    2: Click “Redeem Code.”
3: Follow the instructions on-screen to register through Facebook.
4: When prompted, enter and redeem your 16-figure code. Once you click “redeem code,” you will have complete access to BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution

DON'T WANT TO USE FACEBOOK OR HAVE NO FACEBOOK ACCOUNT? NO PROBLEM.
YOU CAN REDEEM YOUR CODE BY USING YOUR CURRENT EMAIL ADDRESS.

1: Fill in the required fields and agree to the terms of service, then click submit.
2: A verification email will be sent to the email account you registered.
3: Open your email account and click the link provided in the verification email in order to continue the redemption process. If no email appears in your inbox within five minutes, please:
a)Check your spam folder to ensure that the email was not auto-filtered.
b)Try re-entering your email address to account for potential spelling errors.
4: Once you click the link provided, create a password for your account and click “submit.”
5: When prompted, enter and redeem your 16-figure code. Once you click “redeem code,” you will have complete access to BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution.

For Steam users: No code required. Simply follow the same instructions starting with clicking "Redeem Code" (even though you don't have one).

    Account Management:
There was the opportunity to select Steam or PC on redemption. Why the difference?

If you pre-ordered from a retailer that is NOT steam, you will receive a 16 digit code. You will need to enter “PC” as your platform and enter your code.

If you have a Steam account, and you select Steam as your platform, and authenticate, but you did not pre-order the game with Steam, you will see the following message: “We’re sorry, but we have determined that you have not pre-ordered BioShock Infinite through Steam. Please select “PC” as your platform and enter the sixteen digit code you received with your pre-order.”

My Industrial Revolution pre-order code is not working. What should I do?

First, verify that you've entered the code correctly. If you're certain that you've entered the correct code, please contact our customer service at usasupport@2k.com and we'll help you troubleshoot the problem.

I can't create an account. How should I proceed?

Most often, this is because the activation email we sent you was caught by a spam filter. Check your email account's spam folder first. If you still haven't received an email, it's possible that you experienced a momentary connectivity issue. Wait a bit and try again. If you're still having problems, please contact customer service at usasupport@2k.com.

Why didn't I receive my account activation email?

It's possible that your activation email was caught by a spam filter, either in your email application or one run by your internet service provider. If so, you'll need to add the email address "noreply@irrationalgames.com" to your list of allowed senders. If you are still experiencing problems, click on "Lost Password" at the Industrial Revolution login screen to have a new activation email sent to you.

It says that my email is already in the system but I don’t know my password?

    Reset your password.

How do I change my password or account settings?

If you're logged in to Industrial Revolution, you can change your password by going to "My Account" in the header. If you are unable to log in, there is a "Lost Password" button on the login screen. It will send a link to the email address we have on file. Check your email; follow the link in it, and you can reset your password.

I have two codes from different retailers so that I can get both the shotgun and the sniper-rifle -can I can use them both on a single account?

First of all, you are a true completest! And yes, you absolutely can. If you have multiple pre-orders, you can link them to your one account by going to My Account -> Redeem Additional Codes, and it will take you through the process. You can see how many you have redeemed and on which platforms on this screen as well.

    Claiming Your Rewards
What are the items you can unlock in the game, what do they do?

The gear items are Handyman Nemesis, Sugar Rush and Fleet Feet. Additionally, you’ll be able to gain cash that can be used in-game.

I've unlocked rewards for BioShock Infinite in Industrial Revolution. How do I claim them in my game?

On the day that BioShock Infinite is available, we will email you a one-time-use code to claim your rewards. You will also be able to access this code here on this website by clicking the "My Rewards" button.

I purchased BioShock Infinite for multiple platforms. Can I use one Industrial Revolution account to get rewards on all of them?

First, congratulations on being a person of fine taste and character. Second, yes, you can link any and all pre-order codes you have to a single Industrial Revolution account. Once you've signed up with your initial pre-order code, log in to Industrial Revolution. Then go to "My Account" (linked above) and enter any additional codes you may have. Your Industrial Revolution progress will then be linked to any platform you have entered the code from. You will have to log out and log back in to see it reflected in game.

Can I still unlock my rewards if my BioShock Infinite platform isn't connected to the internet?

You must be able to connect online with your chosen platform in order to access the rewards you've unlocked with Industrial Revolution. Specifically, you must be able to connect via Steam on the PC, PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3, or Xbox LIVE for the Xbox 360 edition.

How do I unlock the Comstock China Broom Upgrade and the Comstock Bird's Eye Upgrade?

The Comstock China Broom Shotgun and the Comstock Bird's Eye G10 Sniper Rifle are exclusive items that can be earned only by pre-ordering BioShock Infinite at a specific retailer and redeeming your BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution code. They cannot be unlocked by completing levels in BioShock Infinite: Industrial Revolution.

    Industrial Revolution Gameplay:
Can I play Industrial Revolution on my mobile device?

Industrial Revolution requires the latest version of Flash on a compatible web browser (IE 8, Chrome 17.0.963.78 and newer, Firefox 10.0 and newer, Safari 5.1.2 and newer, and Opera 11.61 and newer).

I've finished Industrial Revolution, and I gave all my support to one faction. Can I play it again in order to unlock all of the faction-specific rewards for the other faction?

Alas, you cannot. Your decisions are important. Every choice you make in Industrial Revolution is permanent! But you can always replay the puzzles, just for fun.

Why are the newspaper articles in Industrial Revolution talking about my recent support for one faction, even though I've mostly supported the other?

Your choices over the course of the entire game will affect which faction rewards you earn when you complete Industrial Revolution. However, if your most recent activity—since the last newspaper article—has been in favor of one faction or another, you’ll see that choice reflected in your next newspaper.

  2. I have pre-ordered through Amazon.co.uk today after reading this article. I am in the UK, however I have not received my code, or any information on Industrial Revolution. Any suggestions on how long instructions may take to come through after purchase?

What if you can't afford to have two different pre-orders at GameStop and Best Buy but you still want both? You do look a little crazy when you get two of the same thing because there's different bonuses, too. As much a fan you may be, ya know...

Hi dantesavenger! Thanks for the heads up. Please call Amazon customer service and they should be able to assist you with a code.

I will call them, however even with a code, what/where am I supposed to do to play the game, a code seems a little useless without instructions on how to use it? I can see references in the above text to creating an account, but how can I do this?

Are supplies of the Industrial Revolution codes really limited?

I'm in the midst of a back and forth with a Gamestop rep, who doesn't understand that I should have received a code with my emailed receipt (as mentioned here www.gamestop.com ). I've pointed this out to the rep, and am awaiting a reply. I assume the rep is going to point to the 'While Supplies Last' reference and say it must no longer be available. I highly doubt that IG would make this pre-order incentive so limited that I'd be unable to get it at this point, but figured I would check in with you, Ratana.

And, as background, I had an order with Gamestop, but cancelled, and re-ordered, hoping to see the code included.

Earning In-Game cash and weapons for the actual game sounds like a game ruiner for me.... I am very interested in the puzzle game itself though. Is there a way to play it without having Bioshock: Infinite spammed with extra money from the start?

Sent Amazon an email about it. Hopefully they agree to sending out codes because the ultimate editions are all sold out.

Hey there luukedeman111! You will have the option to redeem your in-game rewards or simply play the puzzle game and opt out of it of the rewards entirely. It's totally up to you. Hope this helps!

Sure thing, we've updated the F.A.Q. with redemption instructions once you've received a pre-order code.

Your age gate at finkmaufacturing.com does not include Canada as an option. And of course, I pre-ordered from GameStop (ebgames.ca) today and have not received my code for Industrial Revolution, as promised.

I just pre-ordered from BestBuy.ca and didn't receive my code either. Is this being worked on as well?

Also as above, the redemption site (finkmaufacturing.com) doesn't have an option for Canada available on the drop-down list.

Absolutely LIVID, I called Amazon as you suggested, who have no information about any sort of PRE-ORDER code, or unlock code of any sort related to the game. So I have pre-ordered and I can't access the content as advertised above.

If Irrational have codes for pre-orders through thier own site, why cannot I not get one through approved partners ? Can Irrational give me a code so I can take part ?

As a further note, you stated that the Songbird Edition would be available on October 22nd in the UK through advertised partners, and that there was strictly limited availability. I was up at 00:01 this morning to make sure I could order the Songbird Edition from Amazon.co.uk , an approved supplier. The product was not listed much to my disappointment, its still not listed now, and its 19 hours into the day in the UK, bitterly disapointed and I instead pre-ordered the standard game in the hope that I could at least take part in the Industrial Revolution, which is appears I cannot.

Since the trailer yesterday, which was epic, the overall marketing experience has been really poor, and I am extremely disappointed, I want to get involved, not be calling and posting to get answers. Please can you help me.

*Update* It's taking GameStop about 1-2 days to send out pre-order codes. Please let us know if you receive it. Thanks for your patience!

Gamestop told me the same thing, but the rep also said they would be releasing the code two days AFTER the release of Biosock Infinite. I asked her, "For Industrial Revolution?" She replied yes. So if I have already pre-ordered it, would they acknowledge it and send me the code two days from now? Or as she said, 4 months from now?

What is the best or differences from Irrational Games store or gamestop or Bestbuy? and what is the pre-order codes? Thanks for any help.

  22. Irrational have taken steps to resolve this for me, and for others I have been told Ultimate Songbird Edition is exclusive to GAME in the UK.

Given the speed of the responses, and that some items are outside of thier control, I am once again feeling epic about Bioshock Infinite!

Hi Viewtifuljunkie, GameStop will be sending out codes 1-2 days after you've placed your pre-order and NOT after the release of BioShock Infinite. Hope this helps!

I pre-ordered the Premium Edition on Amazon (which isn't the version linked through the Irrational site) - will I still be getting a code? :S

Does this include EBGames (being the Canadian arm of Gamestop)?

I pre-ordered mine on Saturday with Amazon and got an email with a code today. I suggest just being a little patient as it will arrive.

I also preordered the Premium Edition on 10/21 at Amazon.com and I got the code at 11:05 PDT today! I'm playing the game now as I type this (I'm currently on Document #13 - Bucking Bronco). I'm sure Amazon is sending out the codes now, just keep checking your inbox!

Yes, we've confirmed that Amazon is sending out codes with each pre-order. If you have not received one by tomorrow, I recommend contacting their customer support.

Thanks for the update Eda. Glad to hear everything worked out for you!

Hey Codex, it seems that this also applies to EBgames as well. According to their website, online customers will receive a code within 48 hours:

I will pop back in to the store tomorrow to get the code, then. Thanks ratana!

Edit: just popped out and picked it up! Thanks

However the finkmanufacturing site doesn't have Canada on the age gate as mentioned by another user. Crumbumblies.

EB Games Australia doesn't have anything listed on their site. I'll have to call them, but they aren't usually very helpful with this kind of thing.

Alright, I'm confused now.... I expected everyone to be like: WTF is this S***, unlocking content through some sort of puzzlegame I don't want to play! But everyone seems fairly content with the content, so to speak.

And I'm not saying anyone should be upset by this form of marketing, because if you like it, that's great! I'm just wondering if noone else feels that getting In-Game money from the start, would ruin the experience? Especially if the game is designed to be played without that extra money... It reminds me a bit of those terrible pay to win models you have in MMO's and on iOS...

Again, I'm just interested in your opinions, I'm not trying to spread rage..

I'm going to copy your post in to a new thread, luukdeman - it's a good question but probably not the best discussion for a FAQ/assistance thread.

  35. So you get the mini game once Bioshock comes out?

Alright so Amazon responded and they said that I wouldn't get the code until AFTER my game ships. I'm not entirely sure what to do now.

    Edit: Nevermind, I could re-order.

No, it is available as soon as you get your code. Some people are already playing.

So just trying to make sure I understand. I just ordered from Irrational Games Store, got my receipt no problem but there was no code in the email. The code comes at a later time and not with the pre-order receipt correct?

I pre-ordered BI through steam, is there any way I can get a code?
