Thread: Can Anyone Help?

    Thumbs down Can Anyone Help?

    Hi,

I am a Bioshock PC player. All was going really well, then....... My friends at Microsoft Tech Support tried really hard to solve why Vista SP1 wouldn't install (you can see where this is going). Anyway, 3 days and a huge phone bill later, they screw up my machine and tell me "there's nothing we can suggest except clean install". Dead chuffed I was!!!
I managed to get my backups re-installed, my Users directory seemed fine - even found Bioshock/Saved Games - except (to my horror) these were the ones in the Appdata/Roaming and are .bsh files and NOT the Documents/ .bsb files. upshot - I'm back at the start all over. Does anyone out there have a saved game (.bsb) circa late level 3 (with Lil Sisters saved not harvested). Tried all the Data Recovery" progs (even those that reckon to reverse a format! - Nothin')

Only saves I've found on the net are right at the end of game - no good to me!

If anyone can find the time to look in their Documents directory, I'd be really grateful.

    Kindest Regards,

    Tony

Guys - sorry if I've offended in some way. not sure what is suspicious?

I'm just really deflated and p***ed about having to start right back at scratch, just because MSoft couldn't resolve issues with their Service Pack.

Anyways, if anyone can help me out, that would be very much appreciated - if not, then I know what I've got to do.

    Regards,

    Tony

The first thing you should do is install Service Pack 1 *before* anything else. On a clean system the chances of it succeeding are much greater than a system thats been in use for a while. And if it is going to fail again I'm sure you'd much rather find out right away instead of a few months from now which would put you right back into the same situation. You just will have to install Service Pack 1 sometime so now with a clean install it is the time to bite the bullet. (Service Pack 1 has 551 fixes by the way so you really do want it).

Headkase. Thanks, I agree I needed it, that's why I persevered with MS support. my problem is that my nice "clean install" has SP1 working fine, but it has cost me all the progress I have made with the game. that's why I was looking for some help, if anyone had a save (roughly) where I was.

    Anyway, thanks for the advice.

    Tony
