    More screens

    http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/9...shotuk7.th.jpghttp://img207.imageshack.us/img207/4...shotvv3.th.jpghttp://img207.imageshack.us/img207/1...shotxf2.th.jpghttp://img212.imageshack.us/img212/3...shotkc5.th.jpg

All PC resolutions , very rare resolutions but of the PC . One maybe a reescaling from 1920 x 1200 or 1680 x 1050 . With some downsample in the quality with latest screens.

Hey guys. Just remember (not specifically for anyone) mark all spoilers with spoiler tags, AND in the thread title.

I'm not sure how soon we'll actually be seeing plot line stuff, so I just want everyone to understand that.

Awesome screenshots. The one in which cops are chasing Vito is just great, it makes clear that their running has Improved alot . It looks alot realistic now.

In the one where Vito (or someone else?) is shooting at cops, I was surprised to see that there are no bullet cartridges/cases left from the firing of tommy gun. I guess its just something that has to get added in the game yet.

So correct me if I am wrong: There are total of 18 screenshots/wallpapers available of Mafia II now?

  5. Wow, where are they from??

look great, probably a bit early for gameplay videos but that's what I want to see now.

looking at those I really like the idea of having no interface (if true) to clutter up the screen but think the option of having one to turn on or off might have been a better solution.

the city looks ***** awesome, but i still can't accept "San Francisco-look" option...there's a bit of new york (and when i say "bit" i mean Empire State Bitling )

    No. Not necessarily.
The pictures were probably taken in a "No HUD" mode, like many graphics showcase screenshots are.

    yep.

maybe they'll add an option for it..

    anyway , judging it's the 30's; I don't think a radar is very realistic.
maybe an ammo/health display... we can even count the possibility that the health system is like in Call of duty 4, where you "heal" after every shot, and return to normal.

Well if you refer to a health system where you regain health by staying in cover I for sure hope we will see none of that, very unrealistic. ( I haven`t played COD 4 so I don`t know )

Besides that I love the idea of playing without a HUD or map as well (options of course) couse don`t really want to know when my Tommygun runs out of ammo

I don't think developers are going to choose CoD4 health system, but the old one..
    anyway , judging it's the 30's; I don't think a radar is very realistic
at first it's not 30's but 40's and 50's and at second, there was radar in Mafia 1..when you was/were (i'm not sure now ) in the car .)

  15. #15
Well, maybe the healing system is with some vitachambers , like telephone booths

As long as Mafia is in 3rd person view, you are always able to see how is your character standing. I mean motion capture and game graphics is far away then they were when first Mafia came out so there is no need for health bar.
But without information about ammo it will be kinda hardcore.
And radar in Mafia was handy when you have been chased.

    We'll see...

    *Mafia guy dies*
    *Ends up in Rapture*

That WOULD explain the "mobster splicer(s)".

I'm guessing those screens are from the console version of the game, because they look low res.

They look very good, but there's no need to break out the magnifying glass to notice the clear differences between these shots and the ones already out there.

    some maybe from FMV?

would guess it's safe to assume they're using the same system (game engine) for cutscenes that they used in Mafia 1.

This is a scan from an article in a swedish gaming-magazine. The quality is almost unwatchable, but I guess many of you are interested in everything Mafia II related, so...

    You're kidding me, right?!?!?!
I'm with you (all) regarding the fact that Mafia it's a realistic and simulator game and should stick with this, but let's not overhype things, after all it's just a game! I mean why take out the health bar and why not take out the ammo bar?!?!?! The ammo bar it's something more unrealistic as in reality it's almost impossible to know how many bullets you shot in combat action, while the health bar it's much more realistic stuff as in reality you know when you're shot, or when you're sick, etc. After all, in a fight what can you do with the bullets if you're dead? I just want the opposite, because I find harder to survive without knowing what's the life status than knowing how many bullets you have left.

Yes, bloom is used too much in new games. But we can hope, that blur will be selectable part of game settings.

    to DemonSVK:

Pls, first of all read important topics from admin in this forum and after that decide what to post. These scanshots are in this time exclusive only for print magazines...

    to Beloca: same thing man...

Plenty of shots from printed magazines are over the internet. Is this exception or what? There is no text in LEVEL mag scans to give people reason to buy it.

you guys can talk about scans/articles here, but please don't post them.

the difference is that we are an official forum, and so don't want unofficial stuff in this area.

    but discussion is totally welcome!

For realism it is stupid, but in GTA and other games... health locations are just too annoyingly far spread. It would be good 9in my opinion) if the health went up by a certain amount of points, say 20.

That way you're not invincible, but you don't have to run around like a mad man looking for health. Plus, for realism, it's also a system that allows the character to cope with the wounds/re-stabalise (sp?) themselves, like you might in RL.

"It's just a game." That's all we need to know. Maybe if the HUD could be turned off it would be better. In RL though, there is much more awareness of the environment. You remember how many shots you fired (with a pistol), you know how many extra clips you picked up because you're focused on that. In a game you're in two worlds... game world, and real life, and it's hard to keep track of both.

I like that truck in the background. I hope you can bump the cars with this truck.

    http://i25.tinypic.com/1pt769.jpg

In Mafia I lives a doctor. Maybe a nice idea to create some doctors around the map and when you have low Health Points you go to one of them. Or create few, just a few, hospitals around wich you can enter the building and ask around for help, this would be fun and realistic.

Youself are a mafia, a killer. Not a doctor, so you can't heal yourself fully. You need a proffesional to heal all of your wounds.

The health boxes hanging on walls in Mafia I is in my eyes realistic too. It's for small wounds only, so let's say, 20 Health Points each box.

If you want to create a realistic game, do it in this kind way.

It was off-topic, my apologize for that. Just sharing my thoughts.

It seems like the screenshots in Gamereactor (paper-edition) canīt be found on any website - except the scanned ones.

I have the magazine and I must say that these pictures are marvellous. There are 13 ones!

    1. A shootout at some backyard - the cars trunk is open and I can see things lying in there. One man lies bloody on the ground.

    2. A car chase - Vitor (and a friend) in a blue chabriolet chasing and shooting at another car.

    3. A pub - Vitor hiding behind something prepared for gunfight. Two men are coming in from another room with guns in their hands.

    4. A fight in some cafe/restaurant - Vitor uses his legs to kick a man in his stomach. His friend has just kicked down another man that falls over a table.

    5. A car chase - Vitor + a friend in a red car chasing a truck and firing at them. A well dressed up woman looks at them.

    6. After a shootout - a man lies dead and bloody on the ground (beside his car) and the police has arrived.

    7. Some action - a shootout on the street after a (possible) carchase.

    8. Gundown - Vitor guns down two men with a machinegun and the wall behind them shows a couple of bloodstains.

    9. At some backyard - A parked truck and some cars.

    10. Posing - Vitor and his friend walks out of the car. A policeman is passing by.

    11. In some bar (maybe hotellobby) - very detailed faces on the guest at the bar (almost like real photos). A woman in an sexy dress (prostitute?) talks to a man. At the bar sits a person who could be Kris Kristofferson. Vito stands in the middle - looking around.

    12. Shooting - Vitor points with his gun at a disappearing car. The graphics are nothing but fantastic. Never has cars looked so nice in a game. The sun pouring down through the trees looks so beatiful.

    13. The start of a mission? - Vitor goes in to a yellow (taxi?) car. The details of the city is magnific
