Well some community beta-test won't be bad, but so far Mafia II is singleplayer-only, it seems to be unlikely.

My opinion is that beta-testing isnt fun and in single-only game with strong story it will broke most of adventure in next playing i mean...

Well you are right though, a lot of people I have met during some beta tests were only present just to get there hands on the game asap...
Obviously, beta testing is more then that
But anyway, since I totally missed the fact there is no MP function, beta testing mafia 2 is rather pointless, a community based one anyway.
How it is possible to become a beta tester? What for this purpose it is necessary?

i googled a bit, i found that beta- releases where out on torrent, not sure if they are real thing, nvm, is it illegal to download it even if Mafia 2 isn't finished yet?.
Btw i always buy my games in store, it's so much satisfying that way and 2:nd reason is i'll never get fined or put in jail.
And where you have found the beta version?

Well , i don't want to do something Illegal, but you can find it if you Google: mafia 2 beta , i think that it was on Torrentportal, there is more sites i guess
May I remind you guys of the rules; please don't discuss torrents over here. Needless to say, whatever it is out there it's definitely not a leaked beta.

my guess is reason they will NEVER beta test externally is you can pretty much guarantee it will be leaked online and you know they damn sure dont want that happening
plus like some people said in above posts... i think beta testing 'might' semi ruin the first play through experience to. (either way i dont think anything can ruin MAFIA 2 for me no matter how high the hype goes... cause for me, i think if it's basically the same as MAFIA 1 but with the graphics it has ill be more than happy already but since it added alot of nice little side touches to it... thats just icing on the cake!
Isn't there an agreement that you have to sign, for which you can get into trouble if you leak the game?
maybe but either way... unless they have something to specifically track it to you inside each game they send out to where it's trackable to each person individually in the beta test then i dont see how they could bust you.
Maybe barcoding the file so to speak?
There is definitley some NDA ... a kind of hardcore NDA :-D
