Crash on entering Rapture Central Control

Hi all,

I recently bought the game and had a lot of fun playing it - up until now.

The game keeps crashing on me when I am entering the "Rapture Central Control" level. The game always crashes to the desktop, leaving me the choice to send an error report to our good friends at Microsoft.

I didn't have any crashes whatsoever before this point.

Does anyone know what could be causing it and, perhaps even better, how to solve it?

You could try to turn off high-detail shaders in the graphics options and perhaps load from an older save game than the one you're using before the level load. Hopefully one of these will allow you to continue playing.

Thanks for the tip, though none of that appears to work...

I also tried to re-install or other stuff, but no result.

-Do a complete defrag : Diskeeper should do the job (anything is better than the default defrag tool in windows)
-Check the integrity of your computer with Scandisk (enable the option to fix automatically any errors)
-Clean your Registry : Advanced WindowsCare is a good all-in-one tool to clean up your entire system (I'm using it really often)

Hi pops, I also tried all of that (basically it's system maintenance and doesn't affect any of my games on error-level)... No succes; the game still crashes on that point.

Yeah I didn't have high hopes for this to fix the issue, but who knows. Some of the problems I encountered were related this sort of thing I never considered to be the troublemaker. But back to your problem : did you try to get back to a previous level and from there get directly to Rapture Central Control ?
Or better : what did you just do before you enter that level ?

PS: if you want you can send me the quicksave (through PM) just before this happens if it's possible, this way I could determine if it's a game or system related issue.

Well, it happens directly on having loaded the level and it is saving the content. I don't have any save game from inside the Rapture Central Control level.

I have tried to go back to a previous save game to see if that would help, but also no success...

Sorry, for being late but upload lasted longer...

OK, I loaded the manual save game you sent me, the Autosave file is strange I think it's temp file that couldn't be finished because of the game crash. Well, I opened the airlock and the game started to load the next level and autosave without any crash. I could play through the whole level without any issues.
It's likely your game files are somehow broken, or there is serious issue with the autosave which I think is the problem actually.

I uploaded a complete AutoSave + Manual Save in front of the open airlock door to Rapture central Control (so no worries about spoilers or such if you have not finished once): http://www.mediafire.com/?fbow1n2gt94

I suggest first loading the manual save, if it doesn't work then the files are somehow broken. Good Luck !

Hey!

I have deleted all the Autosave file from the directory and started from my own saved game - strangely enough it all worked out fine! No crashes anymore.
